Coleen Rooney put on a casual display while stepping out in Cheshire on Thursday, as her ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel trial against Rebekah Vardy continues.

The wife of former footballer Wayne, 35, has been sporting an air boot on her foot since suffering a fracture at home last month.

Coleen slipped into a pair of form-fitting black leggings and layered over a zip front fleece as she headed out despite her injured foot.

Low-key: Coleen Rooney, 35, put on a casual display while stepping out in Cheshire on Thursday, as her ‘Wagatha Christie’ libel trial against Rebekah Vardy rumbles on

Coleen went makeup free for her outing as she showcased her incredible complexion and pulled her brunette locks back into a practical ponytail.

She appeared to be on the mend as she left her crutches at home and carefully strolled along in her boot.

On the other foot, Coleen donned a comfortable black and charcoal running trainer and carried a bottle of water ahead of her busy day.

Coleen’s outing comes as Rebekah Vardy has said she ‘has nothing to hide’ ahead of her upcoming libel trial against Coleen.

Coleen accused Rebekah of leaking ‘false stories’ about her private life to the media in October 2019 after carrying out a months-long ‘sting operation’.

She was dubbed ‘Wagatha Christie’ when she publicly claimed her fellow footballer’s wife shared fake stories she had posted on her personal Instagram account with The Sun newspaper.

Rebekah, who is married to Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, denies the accusations and is suing Coleen for libel.

At a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, Coleen’s barrister David Sherborne asked for some documents from News Group Newspapers – the publisher of The Sun – to be disclosed.

Sun editor Victoria Newton, showbiz editor Amy Brookbanks and seven other colleagues could have faced having all their electronic communications forensically analysed as Coleen’s team search for evidence.

The judge, Mrs Justice Steyn granted Coleen’s request for disclosure from News Group Newspapers, but only in relation to communications between Rebekah and her agent Caroline Watt and the Sun journalist Andrew Halls.

The judge said Andrew was the author of one of the ‘so-called sting articles’ featuring in the libel dispute, concluding that disclosure in relation to the journalist was ‘necessary’ and ‘proportionate’.

She said she was ‘not persuaded’ that legal tests were met to allow disclosure in relation to a further eight journalists, telling the court she would give the full reasons for her decision at a later date.

Mr Sherborne claimed disclosure linked to Rebekah in the legal dispute had been hit by ‘a series of unfortunate events’ which meant the bid for information from the journalists was a ‘last resort’.

‘In order to get the documents needed for the fair disposal of her claim she finds herself in between a rock and a hard place,’ Mr Sherborne added.

The barrister later claimed this included Rebekah’s expert downloading her data to inspect but then he had ‘forgotten the password which he used to encrypt the material and he couldn’t remember it’.

However, Sara Mansoori QC, for Rebekah, later said there had been a ‘corruption issue’ with the password.

Adam Wolanski QC, representing News Group Newspapers, labelled Coleen’s bid for disclosure from The Sun journalists as a ‘fishing expedition’.

Hugh Tomlinson QC, also for Rebekah, said she was ‘critically neutral’ on the request for documents.

‘Rebekah Vardy has nothing to hide,’ he told the court.
