The incident spurred St. Johns County deputies to locate guns, multiple pounds of drugs and thousands in cash at the suspect’s home.

A man in St. Johns County, Florida, is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into a home using a large branch. The authorities later found drugs, firearms, and cash at his house, according to the sheriff’s office on Monday.

On April 15, deputies were called to Swallowtail Lane for a reported burglary in progress. Officials stated that they found a nude man had broken through a back door glass using a large wooden branch.

The residents of the home hid in another bedroom and called 911.

Alejandro Barzaga, 44, was taken into custody by investigators, who later learned he lived nearby.

Deputies went to Barzaga’s home, where they found clothing and a purse outside and the garage door open, officials said.

Once inside, deputies noticed signs of a significant marijuana operation. Narcotics detectives from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office arrived to carry out a search warrant at the scene.

Officials said detectives found three guns, $85,000 in United States currency, 22 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms, 12 marijuana plants, three pounds of marijuana, more than five pounds of marijuana edibles and 17 grams of ketamine at the home. They also found drug paraphernalia consistent with cultivation and sales.

Barzaga faces charges of armed burglary of an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief. Investigators said additional charges are still pending.
