Upon their arrival, officers found the young woman alert and conscious, suffering from a gunshot wound to her left leg, as reported by police.

The woman was promptly transported by emergency medical services to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where she remains in stable condition, authorities confirmed.

Police have yet to determine if the woman was the intended target of the shooting or if multiple individuals were involved in the incident.

According to sources from ABC7, the victim was indeed an innocent bystander. The shooting reportedly occurred when a dark sedan with four men inside drove up and opened fire.

“I just heard, like, six or seven shots go off at the same time insane,” a witness told the outlet. “And, I heard screaming, like, throughout the whole complex.”

There are no arrests in the shooting as of Tuesday evening and the investigation remains ongoing, according to cops.
