Courtney Love caught on camera fleeing shocking car collision

Courtney Love appears to be under a string of unfortunate events.

The 62-year-old former actress found herself in a startling incident involving a bicyclist on Wednesday, just days after a private investigation cast doubt on the suicide ruling of Kurt Cobain’s death.

Exclusive images and video footage acquired by the Daily Mail capture the moment when the Hole frontwoman slid into the passenger seat of a black Dodge sports car, driven by a friend, as she left a nail salon in Los Angeles.

As they tried to leave the parking area, the vehicle abruptly stopped when a bicyclist collided with its front panel.

The cyclist, whose identity remains unknown, managed to flip upright during the collision and landed on his feet. He then signaled to the passengers with a wave, and the car quickly drove away from the scene.

This incident follows reports from sources close to Love, who expressed her distress over the renewed investigation into her late husband’s death. “With this new theory about how [Cobain] died, it’s like reliving her own version of Groundhog Day,” they shared with the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, the bike rider seemed completely unfazed, calmly shrugging off the collision.

‘It was probably my fault,’ he told the videographer filming nearby. When asked whether the car hit him, he replied, ‘I hit the car.’

He went on to say he was ‘alright’ and ‘just a bit shocked,’ before adding, ‘I’m just worried about my bits.’

When informed that Courtney Love had been riding in the passenger seat, the bicyclist jokingly pretended to faint, theatrically throwing himself backward in mock shock.

Asked whether he felt ‘worse or better’ knowing it was Love, he grinned and replied, ‘Much better.’

‘I thought I hit their car; I thought I’d have to pay for the car,’ he added. ‘As long as their car is ok, I’m not injured.’

It was all a rather chummy exchange – until he tried to get back on his bike and winced in pain – but he soon continued on.

He even thanked the videographer for ‘checking’ on him and wished them a good day before riding off.

The incident comes amid renewed scrutiny over Cobain’s death, a subject that has long haunted Love. The pair married in 1992 and shared daughter Frances Bean Cobain.

‘Over the years and decades since Kurt’s death, she has heard every story about his death – how it was her fault, just one misery after another,’ the insider previously told the Daily Mail.

The Nirvana frontman died on April 5, 1994, at 27 years old, from a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

But a private team of forensic investigators recently revisited the case, reviewing autopsy reports and crime scene details.

They concluded that certain evidence could point to foul play rather than suicide.

Bryan Burnett, an independent crime scene reconstruction expert, highlighted inconsistencies in blood patterns, clothing and injuries to Cobain’s mouth that, he said, didn’t fit the typical suicide scenario.

The investigators theorized that Cobain may have been confronted by one or more individuals who forced a heroin overdose to incapacitate him before one of them shot him, staged the scene and left a forged suicide note.

The incident came after sources told the Daily Mail of Love's agony over the Cobain inquiry, saying 'Now that there's another theory about how he died, it feels like her own personal Groundhog Day'

The Cobain investigation - in which a private team of forensic scientists has suggested aspects of the case point to a homicide - may have been clouding Love's thoughts during the car-bicyclist crash

Love, however, appears uninterested in entertaining alternative explanations.

‘She would love Kurt to be able to rest in peace, but it looks like that will never happen,’ the source explained. ‘And as the years continue, it will be something else.

‘Courtney is going to choose to honor him instead of reliving that horrible moment in her life, and not give it any [extra] life it doesn’t need.’

Over the years, Love has faced relentless blame from fans who claim she played a role in Cobain’s death, including unfounded theories that she hired a hitman to control his estate. She has repeatedly denied the claims.

In 2024, Love admitted she was unprepared for the intense backlash following the death.

Speaking to the Evening Standard, she reflected on the constant scrutiny. ‘People used to say that I was so difficult. They said I was disagreeable,’ she said. ‘Yes, I am completely disagreeable and I’m never going to apologize for that.

‘I always wanted to be known as a b***h. Being liked was never my thing. Kurt wanted to be liked, but not me.

‘He was able to hide behind me, but then I got hated. Then Kurt died, and the hatred towards me reached a completely new level. I did not plan for that.’

In a 2011 Vanity Fair interview, Love admitted she is still furious over Cobain’s death.

‘If [Cobain] came back right now I’d have to kill him, for what he did to us,’ she said. ‘I’d f***ing kill him. I’d f*** him, and then I’d kill him. He tried to kill himself three times! He OD’d at least five times.’

Now sober and living in London since 2019, Love has faced her own struggles with addiction.

She is also the subject of the documentary Antiheroine, which chronicles her relationship with Cobain, her battles with substance abuse, and the media attention she has endured over decades.

Premiering at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, the film sees Love reflect on falling for Cobain while Hole toured with Nirvana in 1991.

‘When you find somebody you really get along with and can be yourself with, it’s easy,’ she said.

‘We knew we were in love, we knew we wanted to have a baby right away,’ she added. ‘The thing that got in the way was his need for total oblivion.’

Love also recounted the night Cobain died, while she was in rehab at the Peninsula Beverly Hills.

Cobain reportedly tried to reach her, but the late-night call wasn’t put through. His body was discovered three days later in the greenhouse above the garage of his Seattle home.

It’s well documented that Cobain battled severe depression and long-term drug abuse.

In March 1994, he was hospitalized in Rome after overdosing on Champagne and Rohypnol, a sedative sometimes prescribed for insomnia.

Love found him unconscious at the Excelsior Hotel, an event she later described as a possible suicide attempt, though his management team insisted at the time it was accidental.

Following his death, police reports revealed that Cobain had injected himself with a dose of heroin far exceeding what even a heavy user would typically consume. Toxicology also showed the presence of other substances in his system, including morphine, codeine and diazepam.

The King County Medical Examiner officially ruled the cause of death as a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.

‘Kurt Cobain died by suicide in 1994,’ a spokesperson for the Seattle Police Department told the Daily Mail. ‘This continues to be the position held by the Seattle Police Department.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Love’s representatives for comment.
