A friend and former colleague of Erin Jayne Plummer’s has shared a gut-wrenching tribute to the late TV host following her ‘sudden’ death aged 42.

The Studio 10 and TVSN advertorial host died unexpectedly over the weekend, with colleagues Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop announcing the tragic news on Monday.

Posting in a public Facebook memorial group, one heartbroken friend said she regretted ‘not trying harder’ to get in touch with Erin in the days before her death.

The friend, who claims to have once been Erin’s boss at shopping channel TVSN, shared a video of Erin lying on a garage creeper.

She wrote: ‘Have watched this video over and over today to hear your laugh. It sums up our years spent as the “Danoz girls”.’

Danoz refers to the home appliance company Erin often promoted on TVSN.

‘You in front of the camera filled with charm, me behind it making you laugh and getting the best out of you,’ she added.

‘Will always regret not trying harder to return your call last week, should have tried a 2nd, 3rd, 4th time.’

‘Love you darling Ez, always the life of the party eating red frogs and drinking warm milk,’ one friend wrote alongside an image of Erin doing just that.

‘One time Erin needed a Merman for a gig at The Aquarium in Darling Harbour. Fun time, as it always was for our Erin, every time I called, texted or saw her,’ another recalled, posting a photo of Erin in a mermaid costume.

One friend remembered how Erin Jayne had encouraged her to pursue her Olympic swimming dreams.

‘EJ, thanks for telling me to go for it when I didn’t think I could make the move to leave home to achieve my Olympic goal – you made me a better athlete a better friend and a better woman,’ they wrote alongside a photo from their swimming days.

Another pal chimed in: ‘EJ was one of a kind. Caring, thoughtful, loved her family, and her girls were her world. As part of her advertorial world… we will never be the same again. The red frogs, the unpolitical correct conversations, the funny stories we all shared (goes on tour stays on tour).

‘Love you EJ… see you in paradise. We’ll all get there one day. I’m just so sad that you needed to go so soon.’

‘When I think of Erin. I think of a family person. She loved her family, literally lived around the corner from her Mum and Dad. Adored her girls. She was always bobbing between the homes, buzzing, smiling. She was a pocket rocket! Full of pizazz,’ another friend wrote.

Friends have also set up a meal donation service for Erin’s husband and children to ease their burden during this tragic time.

Her death was announced on Studio 10 on Monday, with hosts Sarah Harris and Angela Bishop paying tribute to the ‘gorgeous’ mother of three who ‘brightened up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile’.

She is survived by her husband and daughters. Her cause of death is unknown.

Erin was also a presenter for Aerobics Oz Style for six years. The instructional aerobics TV series, which aired from 1982 to 2005, had a global audience of 40 million people at its peak and was broadcast in more than 80 countries.

In addition to her TV career, Erin was an accomplished synchronised swimmer who represented Australia at three world championships and won 11 national titles.

She was thrust into the spotlight at a young age when she was scouted at Sydney’s Manly Beach and cast in a tourism campaign that aired on NBC in America.

But it was her role as a professional spruiker for which she was best known.

During her career hosting advertorials, she appeared on Studio 10, TVSN, Mornings with Kerri-Anne and The Morning Show, and earned the nickname ‘The Danoz Girl’.

Over the years, she promoted everything from massage chairs and workout programs to slimming jeans and steam mops.

When she wasn’t in front of the camera, Erin also did countless voice-overs for TV.

Announcing Erin’s death on Monday, a sombre Sarah Harris said: ‘We’ve got some really sad news to share this morning.

‘Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a bit of its sparkle with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.

‘For two decades, Erin has been a friendly and familiar face on Australian telly, and for a lot of that she’s been brightening up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile.

‘Erin was just a gorgeous human inside and out, and if it wasn’t for TV, perhaps Erin may have had a sporting career.

‘She represented Australia in synchronised swimming and even surf life saving, and there’s no question that Erin Jayne was a high achiever, and certainly a gold-medal mum to her three young girls.’

She concluded: ‘We’ll miss your sunshine around the studio, Erin Jayne, and all of us here are sending lots of love and strength to her family. You’ll be very missed.’
