A teenager from South Carolina, who had been missing since late last year, has been located unharmed, and authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the case.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Office announced that 16-year-old Mackenzie Dalton was discovered in Lexington County after an investigation into her disappearance.

Officials confirmed there was no evidence suggesting Dalton was ever held against her will or in the company of someone she did not consent to be with.

Dalton was initially reported missing when she was last observed leaving her residence in late November, as stated by the sheriff’s office on January 2. At that time, she was classified as an endangered juvenile due to her young age and the duration of her absence.

Prior to her discovery, investigators speculated that Dalton might have been with an acquaintance, though they have not disclosed the identity of this individual.

The sheriff’s office said the vehicle Dalton drove away in and the suitcase she took from her home were recovered during the investigation. The teen was described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 118 pounds.
