A widely circulated video on social media shows a startling incident that occurred outside Dongchuan People’s Hospital in China. The footage captures a mother and her young daughter approaching a hospital staff member.

In the astonishing clip, the child is walking alongside her mother with a fruit knife embedded in the right side of her head, while a hospital employee helps guide them.

All three of them appear to act as if nothing unusual has happened – despite the knife hanging out of the child’s head with its handle exposed.

The girl’s mum, whose surname is Hu, told local media she was changing bed sheets when the knife was accidentally launched into her skull.

She claimed the blade flew into her child’s head and became stuck there during the seemingly mundane household chore.

Reportedly, a hospital staff member mentioned that the mother later confessed to picking up the knife with the intention of “scaring” her daughter, but inadvertently injured her instead.

The toddler was throwing a tantrum just moments before the knife went into her head, her mum also admitted.

Hu reportedly tried to take the knife out herself following the heart-stopping ordeal.

But she eventually took her daughter to hospital instead of calling an ambulance.

A craniotomy was reportedly carried out on the girl by a neurosurgeon to safely remove the blade.

And the girl’s condition is luckily stable since the knife’s removal, local reports say.

Doctors are reportedly still monitoring her condition following the chilling ordeal.

In an unexpected twist, a doctor told China Business View that the girl’s miracle survival was actually thanks to the softness of her skull.

And the medical expert explained why the mum made the right choice to go to hospital rather than attempt the removal herself.

The doctor said: “If the girl’s mother had recklessly pulled the knife out, the risk would have been enormous.

“The correct action was to seek immediate professional medical help.”

Local police reportedly ruled the near-fatal ordeal an accident.

They have since confirmed there was no criminal intent behind the freak accident.

The dramatic scene, filmed in Kunming, Yunnan province, southwestern China, was shared online on August 15, leading to widespread shock and outrage.

Many slammed the mum for reckless behaviour while others praised her for carefully taking her child to the hospital before doing anything else.
