Dennis Quaid 'reveals' what Ronald Reagan would think of Trump

Veteran actor Dennis Quaid recently likened Donald Trump to a more intensified version of Ronald Reagan, calling him “Reagan on steroids” when asked about the former president’s hypothetical thoughts on Quaid’s presence aboard Air Force One.

At 71, Quaid, who portrays Ronald Reagan in the upcoming 2024 film “Reagan,” was seen accompanying Trump on Air Force One. The duo was en route to a rally in Corpus Christi, Texas, last Friday.

Senator Ted Cruz was quick to disseminate a video of their conversation on X, where he quizzed Quaid on what Reagan might say about Trump today.

With a laugh, Quaid replied, “I think he’s like me but on steroids, actually.”

Trump seemed amused by this comment, responding with, “I like that,” followed by a hearty laugh and a few light-hearted taps on Quaid’s arm.

The video, which Cruz captioned, ‘An historic conversation on AF1 between TWO great American Presidents,’ quickly racked up thousands of likes, with many viewers appreciating the nod to Quaid’s portrayal of Reagan.

In recent times, Quaid has become more vocal in his backing of Trump, notably during a recent interview on The Greg Laurie Show podcast, shortly before their journey to Texas.

‘I’ve never seen anybody with that kind of energy,’ he told the evangelical pastor, noting that Trump’s stamina rivals his own high-energy reputation.

The actor raved that the president is ‘surprisingly approachable’ and ‘very funny,’ claiming that Trump’s authenticity is what truly connects with voters nationwide.

Quaid told the show’s host that, in his opinion, Trump’s supporters ‘know he has their best interests at heart.’

He praised Trump’s consistency, saying he has been pursuing the same policy goals ‘ever since he’s been on television’ back in the 1990s.

The Reagan star joined Trump at the Port of Corpus Christi, where the president appeared alongside Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Energy Secretary Chris Wright to highlight US energy production.

‘We have an actor. He’s one of the best actor’s in America. He played a gentleman who preceded me by a few years named Ronald Reagan,’ the president told the crowd.

‘Dennis Quaid has gotten accolades all over the place, and he really is good,’ the president added before calling the actor onto the stage.

Quaid took the microphone and told the crowd he was glad to be back in his home state of Texas before declaring, ‘I love Donald Trump!’

During Friday’s rally, Trump drew audible boos from the crowd when he singled out embattled Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales during his speech.

He offered unexplained ‘congratulations’ to the lawmaker, who is engulfed in a scandal over an alleged affair with a staffer who later died by suicide.

‘Congressman Tony Gonzales is here!’ Trump declared from the podium as Republican officials stood nearby. ‘Tony, congratulations.’

The crowd’s reaction was split, with sharp jeers piercing the applause. Meanwhile, the president failed to clarify what Gonzales was even being congratulated for.

Trump once again suggested he should be ‘entitled’ to a third term as president, reiterating his frequent claim that the 2020 election against Joe Biden was ‘stolen’ from him.

‘I’ve been here one year. Think of it, one year, little bit more than one year. Now, time flies. Time flies,’ he said just minutes into his speech.

‘Maybe we should – maybe we do one more term. Should we do one more? One more term?’

‘We would actually be entitled to it,’ he added, claiming that the ‘Democrats cheated like hell,’ five years back.

Although the rally was billed as an energy policy event, the president veered off to attack Congresswoman Ilhan Omar for heckling him during the State of the Union last week.

He complained that Democrats ‘just sat there’ during his time at the podium before singling out the Minnesota congresswoman directly.

‘How about Omar? Screaming, screaming, screaming, like a lunatic. You looked at her bulging eyes, she’s crazy,’ Trump said.

Last week, Omar and Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib appeared visibly emotional as the president criticized what he referred to as ‘Somali pirates who ransack Minnesota.’

The pair began screaming, calling Trump a ‘liar’ and claiming that he had American blood on his hands following the deadly immigration crackdown in the state.

But they were quickly drowned out by the President’s Republican majority who took to their feet and started chanting: ‘U-S-A, U-S-A.’

Trump said: ‘When it comes to the corruption that is plundering America, there has been no more stunning example than Minnesota – where members of the Somali community have pillaged an estimated $19 billion from the American taxpayer.’

The president said the welfare fraud ‘reminds us that there are large parts of the world where bribery, corruption and lawlessness are the norm, not the exception.’

He warned that ‘importing these cultures through unrestricted immigration and open borders brings those problems right here to the USA.’

Cameras panned to a distraught Omar – who is Somali – as Trump tore into the compatriots in her home state who have become enemy number one in his immigration crackdown.

‘You have killed Americans,’ the Democratic pair screeched as the House descended into anarchy.

The President turned his fury on the women, branding them a ‘disgrace’ and telling the pair: ‘You should be ashamed.’
