SF house where family was killed hits market for $1.5M

A San Francisco residence, which became infamous due to a tragic quadruple murder-suicide earlier this year, has been listed for sale at $1.49 million.

Located at 930 Monterey Blvd. in the Westwood Highlands area, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was once a quintessential suburban retreat. However, last October, it turned into a scene of tragedy when authorities discovered the bodies of 57-year-old Thomas Ocheltree, his 52-year-old wife, Paula Truong, and their two daughters, aged 9 and 12.

According to a report by the SF Standard, investigators suspect the family faced severe financial stress due to failed business ventures and rising debts, which led to the tragic incident. It is believed that Truong shot her husband and children before taking her own life.

Now, about five months after the crime scene was cleaned, the 1920s-era property is seeking a new chapter. Although a $1.5 million listing might seem high to those outside the Bay Area, it is considered a bargain in a neighborhood where similar homes typically sell for over $2 million.

Under California law, real estate agents are obliged to inform potential buyers of any deaths that occurred on the property within the past three years.

The house boasts traditional San Francisco appeal, featuring large bay windows, a modernized kitchen, newly refinished hardwood floors, and fresh interior paint. Whether these attributes can overshadow the home’s haunting past, however, remains uncertain.
