The entertainment world is abuzz with excitement as the newly renamed Actors Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, unveiled its 2026 nominations. The announcement, made on Wednesday, left fans and industry insiders buzzing with its surprising selections.
Leading the pack is “One Battle After Another,” a gripping film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Benicio Del Toro, which made history by securing an unprecedented six nominations. This marks a remarkable achievement in the 31-year history of the awards, as no other film has ever garnered more than five nominations.
The film’s impressive haul includes nods for best acting ensemble, best stunt ensemble, and individual nominations for DiCaprio as Best Actor, Chase Infiniti as Best Actress, and Teyana Taylor as Best Supporting Actress. Additionally, both Penn and Del Toro received nominations for Best Supporting Actor, highlighting the film’s powerhouse performances.
It’s worth noting that a SAG ensemble nomination is often considered a key indicator for success at the Oscars, particularly for the coveted Best Picture category. This bodes well for “One Battle After Another” as it continues its journey through awards season.
The nominations for that movie were for acting ensemble, stunt ensemble, actor (DiCaprio), actress (Chase Infiniti), and supporting actress (Teyana Taylor) as well as two for supporting actor (Penn and Del Toro).
Usually, to win best picture at the Oscars, a movie needs a SAG ensemble nomination.
The nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture besides One Battle After Another went to Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme and Sinners.
Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor in a Leading Role went to Jessie Buckley, Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Chase Infinity and Emma Stone.

The annual ceremony that honors outstanding acting in film and television announced its name change from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to the Actor Awards on November 14, 2025.
Everything else about the celebration remains the same, including the statuette, which has always been named The Actor.
‘We wanted to provide clearer recognition in terms of what the show is about for our domestic and global audiences,’ Jon Brockett—showrunner and executive producer of the award show—and JoBeth Williams—chair of SAG-AFTRA’s Awards Committee—shared in a joint announcement on November 14.
‘We honor actors in film and television. Laser-focusing the name on those two things became the clearest and most straightforward path for this new chapter of the show.’
The logo and statuette has always been called ‘The Actor,’ and it felt like the right time to ‘make the alignment official.’

However, there will be no change to the award show itself, which is still presented by SAG-AFTRA.
‘Only the show name is changing. The foundation remains the same, it’s actors honoring actors,’ it was shared.
‘Past winners and audiences included will still refer to their award and the show as the SAG Awards, and that’s OK,’ they explained. ‘We know it’ll take time to adjust to the change.
‘Our goal is, and has always been, to bring greater clarity and global visibility to every performer the union represents,’ they added, ‘and we’re confident the new name does exactly that.’
