This week, a Hollywood icon was seen in New Jersey filming a new movie, looking remarkably different alongside a former family member.

Sporting long, wavy dark hair, minimal makeup, and noticeably thin eyebrows, her appearance was a complete departure from her usual glamorous red carpet style.

She first gained recognition during her teenage years, following in the footsteps of her older sister.

The actress, who is naturally blonde, gained fame starring opposite Christian Slater in a daring film, then later featured in several thrillers, including “Stigmata.”

In more recent years, she has earned an Academy Award for her performance in a dramatic role, consistently receiving praise from critics for her acting prowess.

The star is working with her former sister in law Courteney Cox – who was married to Patricia’s brother David – in the true crime thriller Evil Genius.

The 57-year-old Oscar-winning actress was cast in the project by the 61-year-old Friends alum.

Courteney was previously married to Patricia’s younger brother David from 1999 until their divorce was finalized in 2013.

The mother-of-one, who shares 21-year-old daughter Coco with her ex-husband, is directing and producing the project.

It’s inspired by the 2018 docuseries Evil Genius: The True Story Of America’s Most Diabolical Bank Heist. 

Also on the Little Falls, New Jersey set on Thursday was 50-year-old actor David Harbour.

The independent movie will follow the true crime case of the ‘pizza bomber,’ pizza delivery man Brian Wells, who entered a bank in Pennsylvania in 2003 with an explosive collar locked around his neck – which later detonated and killed him instantly.

Courteney, also one of the film’s producers, previously directed 2014’s Just Before I Go and episodes of Cougar Town.

Evil Genius will tell the ‘deeply human story of deception, desperation, and the line between victim and villain,’ per Deadline.

Other stars cast in the film include Michael Chernus, Garrett Dillahunt, Danielle Macdonald, Tom McCarthy and Harlow Jane.

‘I’ve been fascinated by Evil Genius since I first saw the documentary. It’s stranger than fiction,’ Courteney said in a statement.

She added that it’s ‘at moments darkly funny and yet deeply emotional,’ and described it as ‘a story about love, loneliness, manipulation, and the people on the fringes who get pulled into something much bigger than themselves.’

After the cast was announced earlier this month, production for the new true crime thriller is now in full swing.

A release date for Evil Genius has not yet been announced.

The 2018 Netflix docuseries was positively received by critics and has a rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Stranger Things star David, whose estranged wife Lily Allen’s latest album West End Girl details their messy split, was clad in indigo blue overalls, a button-up blue shirt and a black North Face coat.

Courteney and her ex-husband David met on set of Scream in 1996 and tied the knot three years later.

Their separation was announced in 2010, with the divorce finalized three years later.

The actress has since moved on with Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid.
