Transport company and major toll road operator Transurban has announced it will cut hundreds of jobs in a bid to “streamline” operations.
“Transurban aims to be a leader in helping people move more easily and safely around major cities,” CEO Michelle Jablko said.
“To do this, we must be a more agile and efficient organisation and re-allocate our capital and resources in ways that best serve our stakeholders.”
Jablko said that “regrettably” it would involve cutting 300 jobs.
The decision follows a workforce review brought about by changes to the company’s operating model in May 2024.
“Our first priority is to handle this process swiftly and sensitively, ensuring support for those affected by this decision,” stated Jablko.
Transurban projected that the reductions would save over $50 million, with a portion being redirected into “growth opportunities” in the company, such as enhancing customer experience.
