A dramatic incident unfolded at Disney World when a faulty stage prop went haywire during a live performance, resulting in an injury to one of the park’s employees.

The unsettling scene was captured by several audience members and shared across social media. It occurred during the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, where a 400-pound fake boulder became unexpectedly mobile.

The massive prop, designed to mimic a rolling boulder, veered off course and began bouncing along the stage’s rear ledge. As it picked up speed, it appeared to be heading directly towards the densely packed audience, causing a moment of panic.

In a split-second decision, a quick-thinking staff member intervened, positioning himself in front of the rogue boulder to prevent it from crashing into the spectators. Unfortunately, as the enormous prop collided with him, he was knocked down by the impact.

Fellow crew members promptly rushed to the scene, assisting the injured employee and helping him off the stage, ensuring his safety amidst the chaos.

Other staff members were then seen helping the employee up and guiding him off stage.

In a statement issued to the Daily Mail, a spokesperson from Walt Disney World said the cast member is recuperating after the incident.

‘We’re focused on supporting our cast member, who is recovering,’ the spokesperson said.

The statement continued: ‘Safety is at the heart of what we do, and that element of the show will be modified as our safety team completes a review of what happened.’

The full extent of the cast member’s injuries are not known, People reported that he was seen leaving the stage with a ‘bloody gash on his head.’

Someone on X who claimed to know him said he ended up getting six stitches, writing, ‘This heroic cast member is our dear friend Robert. He received six stitches but is recovering in the hospital.

‘He’s a former stunt man and his quick thinking saved many. Please keep him in your prayers.’

Many social media users were quick to declare him a hero for his fast actions.

‘Well, he stopped it from going to the crowd. Hero in my opinion,’ one Reddit user wrote under a video of the incident.

‘Still, he took that to stop it hitting the crowd where there could be kids and elderly taking it to the face. A selfless hero,’ agreed another.

The impressive show, which runs for 30 minutes, showcases Indy and Marion from Raiders of the Lost Ark performing incredible stunts with explosive special effects.

Thinking fast, a staff member quickly ran in front of the fake boulder to stop it from barreling into the crowd. As the immense prop hit into the worker, he was swiftly knocked to the ground

In the 1981 Raiders of the Lost Ark movie, Harrison Ford, who played Indiana Jones, outruns a boulder in a jungle chase sequence in the opening scene.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Indiana Jones stunt show has resumed operation, but without the prop builder in the opening scene.

It’s not the first time one of the famous park’s attractions has resulted in injuries.

In August, a horrific ferry boat crash at Disney World reportedly resulted in multiple guests having to be rushed to the hospital.

According to a witness, the boat was bringing families from the Magic Kingdom to the Transportation and Ticket Center during a massive storm, when it suddenly ‘hit something.’

One Disney guest, named Larry, spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail, describing the horrific scene in detail.

He claimed that people were ‘thrown forward’ as ‘metal trash cans’ came barreling forward onto ‘little kids,’ resulting in one boy getting pinned under a trash can.

He recounted terrified children screaming and ‘people bleeding’ as they waited for EMT services to arrive.
