An American Airlines flight took an unexpected turn when a passenger’s refusal to adhere to in-flight etiquette led to a dramatic confrontation. The incident unfolded when a woman was asked to use headphones instead of playing videos on her loudspeaker, a request she did not take lightly.
On February 26, footage captured the heated exchange between the passenger and flight attendants. The woman, visibly upset, remained seated as she unleashed a tirade of expletives directed at the airline crew. Her frustration boiled over as she argued, “I played a video for 30 seconds at 50 percent sound, and that’s the reason you’re kicking me off?”
Throughout the ordeal, flight attendants tried to de-escalate the situation. One crew member made a calming gesture, hoping to pacify the irate passenger. However, their efforts were met with further hostility as the woman continued to shout and emphasize her words, adding incoherent profanities into the mix.
In a moment of defiance, she retorted, “That sounds like a them problem,” in response to the crew’s repeated requests for her to use headphones. This altercation underscores the ongoing challenges airlines face in maintaining a peaceful environment for all passengers.
The video cuts to the passenger shouting again at the flight attendant, overpronouncing her words, and hurling incoherent profanity at the crew.
‘That sounds like a them problem,’ she dragged out, seemingly referring to the crew asking her to use headphones.
‘Go ahead and call the police, what the actual f***,’ she screamed. ‘I stopped after the second warning, I stopped it.’
Sheriffs are then seen confronting the obnoxious woman as she screams in their faces, shouting profanities.

As police try to escort her off the plane, she stands, yells, waves her hands, and even grabs one of the sheriff’s arms.
The passenger and officer go back-and-forth, and she is heard shouting, ‘Can I not express my feelings?’
In response, the other sheriff said: ‘Can you express your feelings over there?’
The sheriffs eventually got her to gather her belongings and escort her off the plane.
‘Thank you for recording me, I played a video for 30 f***ing seconds,’ she yelled, wagging her finger down the aisle.
As she was escorted off, passengers cheered, clapped, and thanked the officers.
The user who posted the video on TikTok wrote that the chaos occurred on a flight from Miami to Tampa and claimed the woman was drunk.
‘A drunk lady on an American Airlines flight from Miami to Tampa refused to use headphones and was loudly playing videos from her phone,’ the caption read.
‘The flight attendants politely asked her to use headphones before we even left the gate, and the lady immediately got angry, rude and belligerent.
‘She was shouting and cursing at employees and other passengers. It continued until law enforcement finally came and thankfully removed her.

‘The American Airlines employees handled it very well and were respectful the entire time. Just a wild situation. Never in my life did I think I’d witness this.’
This ordeal comes after another major airline, United Airlines, quietly updated its policies to require passengers to wear headphones when listening to any audio or video on personal devices during a flight.
Under the revised rules, anyone who plays sound from a phone, tablet or laptop without headphones could be removed from the aircraft and potentially barred from flying with the airline again.
