Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Anthony Levern Tumblin, 59, was taken into custody yesterday after allegedly damaging seven windows of a house and six windows of a vehicle in a fit of rage after being locked out of the house.

On June 7, around 4:12 p.m., a Gainesville Police Department officer visited the 1600 block of NE 5th Place. The officer noted that Tumblin and the vehicle owner had an argument concerning their relationship, leading her to lock him out. The vehicle owner stated that Tumblin picked up a piece of metal rebar and began smashing the windows of a house, which was owned by another individual. Afterward, Tumblin reportedly proceeded to damage the vehicle’s windows.

A neighbor claimed to have overheard the argument, stepped outside, and witnessed Tumblin breaking both the house and vehicle windows. Another witness similarly indicated to the officer that he observed Tumblin in the act of smashing the vehicle’s windows.

The officer reported that the damage to the house was estimated at $3,000 and the damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

Post Miranda, Tumblin reportedly said immediately that he admitted to everything and that he had damaged the windows because he was upset.

Tumblin has been charged with two counts of property damage over $1,000, a felony. He has no local criminal history but has several battery convictions out of St. Lucie County. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $10,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
