Seven weeks after disappearing in the South Australian scrub, a pet dog named Einstein has proven his survival smarts.

After a daring escapade from his vacationing family, a Maltese named Einstein has been found alive and is recuperating under the care of a veterinary clinic in Tea Tree Gully. The tired canine is now safe and resting after his unexpected adventure.

Einstein made his great escape on September 18 while holidaying with his owners, Jeff and Sue Johns, in Queensland. He wandered into the Anstey Hill recreation park near Houghton, located to the southeast of Adelaide.

Dr. Reeve, a seasoned veterinarian, remarked, “Throughout my career, I’ve never encountered a case where an animal was lost in the wild for such an extended period and then successfully recovered.”

While Einstein’s tale doesn’t quite rival the incredible survival story of Sausage Dog Valerie, who endured 529 days on Kangaroo Island, for Jeff and Sue, finding their beloved pet is an extraordinary moment.

Jeff anticipates an emotional reunion, saying, “When we see him for the first time, I know Sue will scoop him up, showering him with hugs and cuddles.”

Though Einstein still requires some recuperation time with the vets, once he’s given a clean bill of health, his owners plan to journey to Adelaide for what promises to be a heartwarming reunion.
