Doja Cat’s outfit at iHeartRadio’s Wango Tango on Saturday highlighted an unfortunate plastic surgery complication — a detail she herself brought to attention.
Later on Saturday evening, the 29-year-old rapper and singer posted on X: ‘don’t clock my contracted implant it’s all i ask.’
Despite this setback, Doja (born Amala Dlamini) made the bold choice to wear a plunging aquamarine top that barely covered her chest — openly displaying the surgical issue.
Post breast implant surgery, it’s typical for the implant to be encased in a ‘capsule’ of scar tissue, which ideally keeps the implant properly positioned.
But in some instances, the scar tissue can begin to harden and contract around one or both implants, according to the FDA.
The condition can make the breasts look overly hard, or give the implant a lumpy or misshapen appearance, which Doja seemed to indicate she was dealing with.
In more severe cases the contraction can even be painful to the sufferer.
Notably, the Baker Scale, which grades the severity of implant capsular contraction, indicates that surgery may be required to remove the implant if it looks notably abnormal due to contraction.
Surgical options can include taking out the implant and removing all or part of the scar capsule, then either replacing the original implant or using a new one, though contraction may still occur in the future.
Doja’s fans didn’t seem too concerned about her breast implant mishap in the comments on her X post.
‘We were too mesmerized by the show to notice,’ wrote one fan.
Another person joked that ‘tia and tamera were sitting pretty,’ using a nickname for her ‘twins.’
Others admitted they had no idea what she was talking about, while a few fans suggested that Doja had overshared about her medical condition.
And some fans joked that they couldn’t see anything by posting photos of a blind Bart Simpson and a gif of Scooby-Doo’s Velma being functionally blind after losing her glasses
Despite her implant issues, Doja still managed to set pulses racing with her jaw-dropping arrival at the glitzy event.
She flaunted her incredible figure in an aqua-colored mini dress, with dramatic cut outs and a plunging neckline.
She barely contained her ample assets in the slinky number, which cinched her in at her tiny waist and was adorned with sparkling sequins.
The eye-catching number skimmed her thighs slit to showcase Doja’s legs which were covered with fishnet tights, while she boosted her height with silver buckled stilettos.
The Say So singer opted for dramatic jewelry, adding a chunky diamond choker and sparkly earrings to the look, whilst also sporting a full face of glamorous makeup.
Her blonde tresses tumbled down her shoulders in a relaxed wave and she showed off her impressive arm tattoos as she posed for pictures.
Later in the evening, Doja Cat took to the stage to perform a string of her top hits and put on an animated display as she entertained the crowd.
It comes after the singer left fans speechless earlier in the year, as she boldly recreated one of the most controversial and provocative music videos in pop history.
For her highly anticipated track, Lose My Mind, the rapper channeled pop sensation Miley Cyrus in the music video as she stripped off her clothing and rode on top of an engine, drenched in just black oil.
The Paint The Town Red hitmaker appeared to be reenacting the unforgettable moment that the three-time Grammy winner, 32, infamously straddled a swinging wrecking ball back in 2013.
When Miley released her polarizing music video for Wrecking Ball, it earned the Vevo record for the most views in the first 24 hours after its release with 19.3 million views.
The video, which features the former Disney Channel star licking a sledgehammer at one point, has since amassed over 1.2 billion views.
Although she may have sought some inspiration from Cyrus, Doja paved her own path with the rest of the striking video, alongside her collaborator Don Toliver.
In the video, Toliver gets behind the wheel as Doja rocks various futuristic looks.
The artists joined forces on Lose My Mind, which will be featured in Brad Pitt and Damson Idris’ upcoming F1 movie.
They wrote the song, alongside producers Ryan Tedder and Hans Zimmer.
The F1 The Album drops on June 27, the same day as the Apple Original Film, which stars Pitt and Idris as competing F1 drivers.
Earlier this month, Doja shared a 16-track list for her forthcoming album Vie that included the songs Turn the Lights On, Slide, One More Time, Make It Up, Lipstain, Kink, Jealous Type and I Like You.
It will follow her 2023 album Scarlet, which she previously called ‘quite an angry project’ during an interview with Jack Harlow for Present Space, last year.
‘I think the point of that album was to showcase anger and how it processes through my mind, but also it’s about coming to your own defense and love,’ she said.
Doja continued: ‘It’s sort of my “Why I oughta!” moment of squaring up with everyone and defending myself, telling myself that I’m here for me, and not just for everybody else’s enjoyment.’
