GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Greeneville was “iris-istible” this week for the 30th annual Iris Festival.

The Iris Festival is an annual event in Greene County that showcases arts, crafts, merchandise, entertainment, and food, drawing a crowd of 10,000 to 15,000 visitors each year from 11 different states. Jeff Taylor, the President and CEO of Greene County Partnership, shared that the festival contributes more than $1 million to the local economy.

During the first three days, the festival featured an interactive piano showdown at the Capital Theatre, an Iris Run, and a pop-up art reception. On the fourth day, attendees gathered at the General Morgan Inn’s rooftop for Brumley’s World Tour on the Terrace, which highlighted experiences from America and Italy.

The weekend activities focused on cars and beer. Saturday was marked by the Sundown on Depot Car Show, which showcased hundreds of cars along Main Street and helped raise funds for Holston Home for Children. The day also included the Downtown Brewfest, offering tastings of various craft beers.

Sunday will conclude with shopping, more flowers and food from 12 to 5 p.m.

“It’s beautiful downtown,” Taylor said. “If you’ve never been to Greenville, it’s got so much more than just the festival. In addition, a lot of people come here, and then they go to some of their local shops as well, and so it’s really great exposure for somebody that’s never been here. It’s a great day trip, and we would love for you to come in and experience all that Greenville has to offer.”

The week is also well-known for the Iris Festival Pageant.
