Ellen DeGeneres bullying scandal explodes with bombshell new claims

Ellen DeGeneres reportedly disliked male employees interacting with her wife, harbored resentment towards Gordon Ramsay following his appearance on her show, and allegedly allowed executives to pressure a senior staff member into rescheduling a crucial operation for his unwell child to align with her preferences.

These troubling allegations were brought forward by a former cameraman, who chose to remain anonymous when speaking to the Daily Mail, after over ten years on DeGeneres’ show. The program, which aired from 2003 to 2022, was canceled soon after bullying accusations emerged.

But the depths of 67-year-old DeGeneres’ alleged pettiness on the Los Angeles set of the NBC show have never been fully shared – until now.

The most serious of the new allegations suggests that a prominent producer was encouraged to alter the timing of their child’s significant medical procedure to accommodate the star during the busy holiday period.

“The child was scheduled for a major surgery, like a bone marrow transplant,” the source told the Daily Mail. “Management inquired if the child’s procedure – which they referred to rather dismissively – coincided with the week of Christmas festivities.”

“This was directed at someone in a fairly high position. They were asked if the procedure could be rearranged around the Christmas holiday week, for Ellen,” the former employee recounted.

‘They were there on the day of the taping that week – Ellen got exactly what she wanted.

‘It was all loyalty to the show, but no loyalty to staff.’

Ellen DeGeneres is pictured in September 2020, apologizing after it was revealed her talk show was a toxic place to work. But now a former cameraman has made shocking new claims about DeGeneres' personal vindictiveness

Ellen DeGeneres is depicted in September 2020, issuing an apology after revelations about her toxic workplace environment surfaced. Now, a former cameraman has leveled new allegations concerning her personal vindictiveness.

DeGeneres, pictured with her wife Portia De Rossi, was hailed for her openness and warmth – but the $77-million-a-year host’s reputation has since been destroyed by bullying claims

It is unclear if DeGeneres, who closed each show with the words ‘Be kind’, personally knew about the rescheduled surgery.

After bullying claims first emerged in 2020, DeGeneres infamously donned a pristine white polo-neck and blazer for an on-screen mea culpa. She insisted she had no idea her show was a nest of vipers, despite being an executive producer on the program, which Forbes said earned her $77 million a year.

It wasn’t enough to save the show, which was canned in 2022, with DeGeneres subsequently moving to England.

But the Daily Mail’s source said DeGeneres was a nightmare whose own behavior was among the worst on set, with the comedienne said to have a particular dislike of men.

‘We went though a lot of male employees just in general,’ our source said, highlighting how DeGeneres burned through nine stage managers in just one season – an ‘insane number’, he said.

‘We had a feeling she really didn’t like guys,’ he added.

DeGeneres was particularly upset at underlings ‘if they were ever caught in conversation with Portia’, our source claimed, referring to DeGeneres’ wife, actress Portia De Rossi, 52.

De Rossi is pictured with DeGeneres in London last month. De Rossi had a seat with a special golden plaque on the set of the Ellen show, a former cameraman told Daily Mail – with longterm staffers knowing it was best to keep well away from it

The source recalled how De Rossi had a special seat reserved for her during tapings at stage left, marked by a ‘gold plaque’.

‘And listen – you knew, if you see that golden plaque, stay the hell away,’ the source said, referring to DeGeneres’ protectiveness.

‘Portia was nice, she would say ‘hi’. But Ellen – she would be in her chair, it would be a commercial break, and if she didn’t know you, she would ask about you.

‘You just hoped and prayed you weren’t seated by her wife, so you didn’t get her attention.

‘You wanted to avoid looking into what we called the ‘Ellen gaze’,’ he added.

‘If she stayed looking at you, that was bad.

‘Her eyes would get more narrow, her cheekbones would stick out.

‘If she looked away from you, you were probably liked – you were probably ok.’

The source likened DeGeneres’ death stare to ‘the part in Indiana Jones where [the titular character] yells out ‘Don’t Look!’ at the deadly Arc of the Covenant relic that killed anyone who glanced at it.

‘She would stare into the crew area where she would slightly bob her head up and down while also head panning left to right like a queen looking for her next execution,’ he said.

‘It was just weird – cameras on, she’d be dancing, doing all this fun stuff, and cameras off – she was terrifying,’ he continued.

The Daily Mail’s source said DeGeneres had a staff turnover several times higher than other shows he worked on, including Tyra Banks’ talk show.

Banks usually lost around two to three staffers per season, he said – while DeGeneres blasted through around 20.

One of the biggest alpha males in showbiz – chef Gordon Ramsay – was allegedly banished for years by DeGeneres after calling her out for using rancid meat for an on-screen cookery demonstration.

‘He gave her some quip. They were doing a food test together, and Ellen offered him a sample first.

‘As soon as he bit in, he was like ‘This is rubbish. This is disgusting’,’ he recalled. ‘She didn’t like the reaction. It was like eight seasons he didn’t come back for after.’

Even being nice to DeGeneres was enough to infuriate her, as one unfortunate warm-up man on-set discovered, our source claimed.

‘[One show] Ellen came out and she was on a unicycle.

‘The anchor made a comment like ‘Don’t fall!’ and Ellen said something along the lines of, ‘No, I wont.”

Shortly after, ‘She told one of her EPs, ‘Don’t let this guy on the show again”, the source said. ‘You were uninvited as a guest pretty easily.’

And DeGeneres’ enormous ego saw her power extend beyond the confines of her studio at Warner Bros. in Burbank and out onto the lot surrounding it.

‘There was a PA who couldn’t move his golf cart fast enough because he was blocking Ellen – trying to get out of the way – on the campus, Ellen was in her car,’ the former staffer said.

‘That guy was fired three days later – he worked on a different show. This was after a taping as she was leaving.’ It remains unclear if that firing was directly related to the encounter with DeGeneres.

The Daily Mail’s source also claimed DeGeneres’ icy demeanor thawed just once a year, during the show’s annual holiday parties.

‘She would sometimes make small talk – like ‘what do you, are you having fun’,’ he recalled. ‘That was about it.’

He added that bosses would work to stop ex-employees getting jobs elsewhere after they’d quit Ellen or been fired from the show.

DeGeneres was finally exposed after several staffers spoke to BuzzFeed in 2020 about the awful atmosphere behind the scenes of her show.

Workers said they’d been fired for taking bereavement leave and after taking sick leave following a suicide attempt.

A tidal wave of allegations followed and personal anecdotes about the star’s alleged meanness spread like wildfire on social media.

Three top producers were fired over claims they’d kept a ‘choke hold’ on staff complaints that prevented them from being escalated.

DeGeneres claimed to have been shocked about bullying on her show while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter after its cancellation.

‘I think that I learned a lot, and there were some things that came up that I was shocked and surprised by,’ she said.

‘It was eye-opening, but I just trust that that had to happen.’

But the Daily Mail previously revealed how DeGeneres tried to get a waitress fired for having chipped nail polish.

She also taunted an 11 year-old boy for being ‘fat’ when she was around 20 years-old.

Daily Mail has contacted DeGeneres for comment on the latest claims made against her.

NBC, which broadcast the show, did not comment.
