The son of a prominent lawyer has been taken into custody after a dramatic incident in Pennsylvania, where he allegedly attempted to escape from police by trying to run down two officers with his white Mercedes G-Wagen.
Dalton Janiczek, 21, now faces serious charges, including attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault, and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer. His arraignment took place on Saturday.
Events escalated on October 24 when a police sergeant tried to pull over Janiczek’s car. Instead of stopping, the vehicle sped off erratically, even crossing a concrete median at high speed, according to police reports.
The police eventually located the car in a parking lot near the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel in Plymouth Township. However, Janiczek allegedly reversed his car multiple times into a patrol vehicle.
When an officer exited the vehicle and ordered Janiczek to halt, the young man reportedly accelerated toward the officer, prompting the officer to discharge his firearm.
Janiczek, who is noted to be 6’2″ tall, then allegedly drove forward, striking the officer and causing him to fall. It’s worth noting that the luxury G-Wagen can cost up to $186,000.
As the officer attempted to administer a tourniquet to a leg wound, the Mercedes circled back around the lot and struck the officer three more times as he lay on the ground.
The 21-year-old sped off again in his Mercedes, before hitting another parked Plymouth Patrol vehicle head-on and injuring a second officer, police said.
