‘ER’ Stars Have Reunion At George Clooney’s Broadway Debut: “So Very Proud”

An ER reunion took place this week on the Great White Way, and nobody was hospitalized!

As George Clooney made his Broadway debut Thursday in the stage adaptation of his 2005 Oscar-nominated film Good Night, and Good Luck, his fellow Cook County General alums Julianna Margulies, Anthony Edwards and Noah Wyle were in attendance.

“So very proud of my friend. So very happy for the reunion,” wrote Wyle on Instagram with a black-and-white group photo.

The reunion comes after Margulies revealed that she and Clooney still call each other by their ER character names. “It always had to be Carol and Doug, in the end,” she said in September. “George and I, to this day, still sign our personal emails to each other ‘Love, Carol’ or ‘Doug.’”

Reflecting on her 2000 exit from the series during Season 6, which reunited Carol with Doug in a surprise scene, Margulies said, “It really worked. Honestly, every now and then I’ll catch it when I’m flipping channels or something. And I still — that music — I still get very emotional. And I remember my mom saying to me — she was so shocked because everyone knew George was off the show — my mother said she screamed, which I think was a lot of people’s reaction. It was the right ending for them because Carol and Doug were destined to be together.”

The pair returned once more for the 2009 episode ‘Old Times’ during the show’s final season. “ER is responsible for our careers. I will always be indebted to ER,” said Margulies.

Last September marked the 30th anniversary of the medical drama, which was created by Michael Crichton, running for 15 seasons on NBC until 2009.
