A Kentucky woman accused of trashing her ex-boyfriend’s car in a fit of rage after an argument flashed an unapologetic smile in her mugshot.
Stephanie Carlquist, 31, is accused of causing extensive damage to a vehicle in July by slashing its tires, breaking the windshield and mirrors, smashing the radio, and pouring salt into the engine.
She poured glitter into the air conditioning vents as a finishing touch, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WECT.
The car’s distraught owner claimed Carlquist slashed its tires on July 6, but finished the job on July 15.
A few days after the incident, a towing service transported the wrecked vehicle to a Goodyear location in Richmond, where it was deemed a total loss with damages exceeding $12,460.
Carlquist allegedly confided in the tow truck driver when they arrived to retrieve the car and admitted to relentlessly wrecking it.
The trucker then called the victim’s mother to let her know what Carlquist said.
The criminal complaint states Carlquist later Instagram messaged her ex-boyfriend, telling him she was sorry about her actions.

She allegedly blamed her outburst on being stressed out because she is pregnant.
Cops interviewed the car-wrecking suspect and said she confessed to smashing the windshield and pouring glitter in the AC vents.
But she allegedly denied the other damage, claiming her ex was ‘overdue for oil and motor and everything else – oh, and the tire.’
Carlquist was arrested on August 14 and charged with first-degree criminal mischief, which is a felony.
When she was booked into the Madison County Detention Center, the alleged-vandalizer treated her mugshot like a photoshoot.
Instead of a somber expression, she appeared joyful as she posed in front of the detention center’s logo.
Her seemingly excited demeanor caught the internet’s attention, with any finding humor in the mugshot despite the severity of the accusations.
‘Her smile says it was worth getting a felony lol,’ one woman reacted to the picture on Facebook.

‘Smiling for a mug shot indicates “I’m not one bit sorry!”‘ one person commented, while another added, ‘With that big smile, it seems like she found some relief… she must’ve been stressed.’
According to arrest records, she was released from jail on Monday on $12,000 bond.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Carlquist for comment.
Carlquist’s alleged outburst follows an incident where another angry ex-girlfriend was accused of throwing a sentimental ‘first date’ brick through a man’s Florida home window while he slept.
Sabrina Deanna Coyne, 34, was detained on January 24 for allegedly smashing her ex-boyfriend’s window with a brick that marked their first date.
The brick read ‘first date’ along with the couple’s names, dated June 14, 2020.
Coyne was charged with criminal mischief and throwing a deadly missile into an occupied dwelling, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
