(KTLA) — Darius McCrary, an actor and singer recognized for his role as Eddie Winslow on the ’90s sitcom “Family Matters,” was apprehended by U.S. Border Patrol on October 5 due to an out-of-state warrant, as reported by People and TMZ.

The 49-year-old McCrary is currently detained without bail in a San Diego jail, based on court information reported by both media sources. His representative, Ann Barlow, informed TMZ that the arrest warrant issued from Michigan stems from McCrary missing a court date related to unpaid child support.

McCrary has had previous arrests for not paying child support in both 2015 and 2023. His 2017 divorce from ex-Harlem Globetrotter Tammy Brawner also led to legal challenges, with Brawner receiving full custody of their daughter, Zoey. To gain visitation rights, McCrary was required by the court to complete programs addressing drug and alcohol abuse as well as a batterer intervention program to tackle abusive behavior, according to People.

Nexstar reached out to McCrary’s representative but did not immediately hear back.

McCrary’s first court date is scheduled for Oct. 15.
