Authorities say 88-year-old Benny Hutcherson was killed after he went left-of-center and slammed into a truck on Route 303. Hutcherson wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

WAKEMAN, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol says an 88-year-old man is dead and another was injured following a head-on crash in Huron County Friday afternoon.

Officials say Benny Hutcherson, of Cleveland, was driving his Buick LaCrosse westbound on state Route 303 when he went left-of-center and slammed into a Toyota Tundra headed east near Butler Road in Wakeman Township. Hutcherson, whom authorities say was not wearing his seat belt, later died at Fisher-Titus Medical Center in Norwalk.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 70-year-old man from Grafton, was taken to Mercy Health Allen Hospital in Oberlin with minor injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation.
