Imprisoned Iranian protesters are being tortured and raped, sources say

A disturbing report has emerged alleging that Iranian police officers are subjecting detained female protesters to sexual violence, including gang rape, followed by brutal mutilation to conceal these acts. The victims’ bodies are reportedly sent back to their families, according to claims made in the report.

Individuals detained under suspicion of participating in recent nationwide anti-government protests in Iran are reportedly facing severe abuse, including rape and murder, at the hands of militant police officers, an Iranian source revealed to News Nation.

“My greatest concern is for those who have been arrested,” shared the source, who has witnessed the brutalities inflicted upon protesters.

“Both men and women in detention are being raped daily by groups of police officers. The regime does not see us as human. This abuse is happening every day in the prisons,” the source added.

The brutality described includes physical assaults, with prisoners reportedly beaten, having their nails forcibly removed, and being subjected to biting. Detainees are allegedly being starved and killed by the government while in custody.

An Iranian refugee provided further testimony, recounting experiences of being gang-raped at gunpoint by masked men and being coerced into becoming “sexual slaves,” all while being ridiculed for their dissenting views.

Some female detainees were allegedly mutilated in an attempt to conceal the militants’ barbaric sexual abuse.

“Some of the women’s bodies that were returned to their families were missing their wombs so that the crimes could not be traced or investigated,” the refugee added.

“To be honest, most families did not pursue the matter further in order to avoid even more suffering.”

One haunting photo obtained by the outlet showed the body of a woman imprisoned in Bojnord, with “clear signs of torture and trauma” when returned to her family 25 days later, the refugee said.

Shaghayegh Moradiannejad, an Iranian photographer who escaped the country with her family five years ago, pressed that torture has “always been the regime’s method.”

“During interrogations, they squeeze their breasts, use obscene and degrading language, and subject them to sexual abuse,” she told News Nation.

Iran’s security forces have arrested more than 50,000 people suspected of participating in the protests, with detainees including students, children, lawyers, doctors and more, according to activists.

More than 7,000 people were reportedly killed during the nationwide crackdown last month, with many still feared dead.

President Trump has warned that the killings, along with Iran’s failure to agree to a new nuclear deal, could incite direct military action, with Tehran threatening that such a move would result in all-out war.
