In a dramatic turn during a recent interview, a financial expert abruptly ended a discussion with a couple who, despite being $420,000 in debt, insisted they still “deserved” a new Toyota Tacoma and a house with a pool. The couple, both undocumented immigrants, appeared on Caleb Hammer’s YouTube show, “Financial Audit,” where Hammer typically reviews guests’ finances to assist them in managing their debt.
Hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, the couple shared their story on an episode provocatively titled “These Illegal Immigrants are F***ed.” They identified themselves as Dreamers, a term for undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children—specifically, they arrived at the ages of nine and five—who are protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
The DACA initiative shields eligible young immigrants from deportation and grants them work permits. However, during his presidency, Donald Trump frequently criticized the program, and the Department of Homeland Security has since encouraged Dreamers to consider voluntary departure amid intensified immigration enforcement.
In the interview, the man, referred to by Hammer’s team as “Oscar,” disclosed that he works in construction, earning approximately $6,000 monthly by operating a forklift for 50 to 60 hours each week. Meanwhile, his partner focuses on caring for their home and family as a stay-at-home mother.
President Donald Trump repeatedly targeted the DACA program during his first administration, and the Department of Homeland Security has urged Dreamers to ‘self deport’ amid a nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration.
The man, whom Hammer’s crew members dubbed ‘Oscar’, works in construction, where he estimates he makes about $6,000 a month driving a forklift 50-60 hours per week, while his partner is a stay-at-home mom.
Oscar noted he pays very little in taxes, but Hammer calculated that he and his wife were $420,000 in debt – with liabilities including a mortgage rate on their house with a 4.3 percent interest rate and a Toyota 4Runner.
Still, it became clear shortly into the episode that the couple felt they were entitled to certain luxuries, as Oscar complained that he did not like the house they live in with their three children ’cause it doesn’t have a pool.’

Caleb Hammer, a financial expert on YouTube, abruptly ended his show on Monday as he became aggravated with illegal immigrants from Phoenix, Arizona
Hammer told him to just use a community pool, but the man said he did not want to because it’s ‘dirty.’
The financial guru repeatedly told the couple they need to implement changes to get their budget under control, to which they argued he didn’t understand their plight because he has no children.
The conversation then turned to the couple’s Toyota 4Runner, for which they consolidated their debt.
‘Sell the 4Runner tomorrow,’ Hammer urged the couple.
He went on to advise that the couple use the Oscar’s old ‘beater’ car until it dies out, but the immigrant refused.
‘I’m thinking of getting a Tacoma’ instead, he replied. ‘I think I deserve a Tacoma.’
At that point, Hammer told the couple they have to agree to get rid of the car for them to continue.
‘You are selling this and driving the beater until it’s done and repairs would be stupid,’ he said, before the woman interjected and said they need a family car.
When Hammer then asks whether he would agree to sell the 4Runner, which retails for about $40,000, the man replies, defiantly: ‘I’m keeping the 4Runner.’

The couple refused to give up their Toyota 4Runner and just use the
‘Then that’s it, I’m ending this,’ Hammer erupts. ‘There is no conversation to be had. I’m ending the episode.
‘If you’re not willing to take literally the most basic sacrifice on the one thing you have, you guys are f***ed and I’m sad to see that.
‘That is f***ing sad and that’s on them, that’s not on me wanting to end this ’cause I’m outraged or anything. If they’re not willing to take a basic step, I’m done.’
Many who commented on the video were also surprised.
‘I’m so glad Caleb ate them both up,’ one YouTuber wrote. ‘People with kids budget all the time. Activities may need to go if you cant afford your rent. Priorities.’
Another wrote that the man ‘said “financial freedom” and skipped the financial part.’
‘This lady’s 17-year-old daughter will end up on Financial Audit in a few years saying “my parents never taught me how to budget,”‘ a third chimed in.
A fourth said that ‘couples like this always make me realize that maybe I am a mature adult and I do have my life together.’
Daily Mail has reached out to Hammer for comment.
