CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago firefighters are battling a massive fire in the city’s Ravenswood neighborhood on the North Side.

It broke out Saturday morning around 5 a.m. in the 5000 block of N. Clark with smoke billowing for miles.

Firefighters were able to get within three minutes of the call which officials say made a huge impact in containing the fire.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, one person was transported to Weiss Hospital in fair condition.

It likely started in the Smashy Automotive shop and then spread next door to the Star Auto Repair shop, CFD said. The roofs of both buildings collapsed.

Fire crews were able to save the Orange Theory Fitness center next door. That business suffering some water damage.

The fire department said crews will be on the scene all day containing hot spots.

A cause of the fire is still under investigations.
