Police said Jed Farraway was flung from the small boat when it struck a marker buoy in waters just off Port Alma, between Gladstone and Rockhampton, at 7.30am.

The 28-year-old’s body was found at 5pm, after a search near Rockhampton, Queensland police said.

Water police, Coast Guard, the RACQ CQ Rescue helicopter and police divers were involved in the search

Three other men were on the boat and all were taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said they would investigate and prepare a report for the coroner.
