Usman, shot dead by cops after a knife rampage, and the group were convicted of plotting bombings and setting up a terror training camp.

The five are among jailed terrorists currently being dealt with by the Parole Board.

Emergency laws passed in February last year means such inmates must serve two-thirds of sentences — instead of half.

And they must have cases reviewed before release. The legislation was brought in after two attacks in nine weeks by recently freed fanatics.

Khan, 28, stabbed Cambridge Saskia Jones, 23, and Jack Merritt, 25, to death at a rehab event in November 2019.

Then Sudesh Amman, 20, knifed two people in Streatham, South London, before being shot dead by surveillance officers having been released a month earlier.

Security experts last night warned of the risk and extra burden on security services if the large number walk free.

Colonel Richard Kemp, former chair of the Cobra intelligence group, added: “These people consider themselves ‘soldiers of Allah’ — at war with us and honour-bound to keep up the fight whenever the opportunity occurs.”

The Khan accomplices chasing parole are Nazam Hussain and Mohammed Shahjahan, both 36, Abdul Miah, 35, and his brother Gurukanth Desai, 40, plus Shah Rahman, 39.

Since the introduction of the Terrorist Offenders Act 2020, some 117 cases have been referred to the Parole Board.

Eleven have been freed and 14 have been refused release with the other cases pending.
