In a significant traffic incident on Saturday morning, a massive pile-up involving nearly 60 vehicles led to the temporary shutdown of Highway 99 in both directions in Tulare County, California. This was confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The CHP reported that they began receiving calls about the crash shortly after 8:15 a.m. The collision occurred in both the northbound and southbound lanes near Avenue 24, approximately 40 miles north of Bakersfield.

As a result of the collision, ten individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The severity of their injuries was not disclosed immediately. Other people involved in the accident were taken by bus to the International Agri-Center in Tulare.

The California Highway Patrol provides an update following a massive 59 vehicle pileup in Tulare County on Saturday morning.

Initially, Tulare County officials posted on their official Facebook page that an estimated 150 vehicles were involved. However, the CHP later clarified that the actual number of vehicles in the pile-up was 59.

A crash involving nearly 60 vehicles in Central California’s Tulare County forced the closure of Highway 99 in both directions at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Investigators from the CHP suspect that dense fog played a significant role in the accident, noting that visibility at the time was reduced to between 100 and 200 feet.

By 2:30 p.m., Highway 99 was fully reopened to traffic, as per information from the CHP.
