Patric Young, who wowed Gator basketball fans from 2010 to 2014 and played internationally through 2019, is continuing to recover from a serious rollover car crash in late June in Nebraska.

He joined Steve Russell’s “SportsScene” show on WRUF on Tuesday to provide an update on his rehabilitation.

Overall, he said he’s doing “fantastic” but has found the physical therapy and nutritional regimen the medical providers have had him on to be challenging. He recounted a conversation with his former Florida coach, Billy Donovan.

“I had him in tears laughing. I said, ‘Coach Donovan, if I’d have worked this hard in my four years (at Florida), I’d have been a lottery draft pick,’” he said.

Young said his T7 and T8 spinal cord discs were injured in the crash, and he’s regained the ability to wiggle his toes.

“As of now, I don’t have feeling or sensation from the waist down,” Young said. “You have to adjust to where you are right now.”
