NEW ELLENTON, S.C. – Over 80 students from Greendale Elementary School were gifted new shoes, thanks to a contribution from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions and the nonprofit organization, Shoes That Fit.
According to SRNS, last month’s donation to 83 students exceeded the school’s original goal of reaching 75 students.
Meagan Hildebrand, a counselor at Greendale Elementary, expressed that this donation supports students both academically and personally.
“In the end, it’s vital for us as a community to unite in backing all of our children. The proverb, ‘it takes a village,’ truly applies,” Hildebrand remarked. “I’m thrilled that SRNS backed this initiative and am eager to continue our partnership.”
“The school and students have been eager to get these shoes,” said Martha Ruthven, a Senior Community Relations Specialist at SRNS. “It’s an honor for us at SRNS to help these students feel comfortable and confident, so they can perform well in school.
