Halle Berry has expressed her admiration for her co-star Chris Hemsworth, saying she’ll be “a fan for the rest of her life” after the Australian actor stood up for her on set.
Berry was with Hemsworth at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote their new thriller Crime 101, when she spoke to E! News on the red carpet, and spoke elliptically about a moment Hemsworth had proved himself during filming.
Berry said:
“[He’s] a stand-up guy. I won’t go into it now, but he stood up for me in a moment in our movie, and instantly I knew right then I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of his life because he stood up for a woman.
“He didn’t have to do it and he did it.”
Hemsworth previously shared that he had felt intimidated to work with Berry, saying: “I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years. I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing.”
Crime 101 sees Hemsworth play a jewel thief with Berry as an insurance broker. Hemsworth stepped into the project after Pedro Pascal was unable to fufil the role due to scheduling conflicts.
Other cast members include Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan and Monica Barbaro. Crime 101 is directed by Bart Layton, and adapted from a novella by Don Winslow. The title is based on “Crime 101” rules – a strict set of guidelines for the perfect heist.
