What we know about Trump’s mass deportations
So far, there have been 538 arrests and 373 detainers lodged, according to a post on X from ICE.
Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka responded to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation in the city, stating that the agency conducted a raid on a local business. During the raid, individuals without legal documentation, including both citizens and non-citizens, were detained without a proper warrant, as reported by ABC News.
According to a news release, one of the detainees was a military veteran who faced the humiliation of having his military status questioned, despite possessing legitimate documentation supporting his service.
Homan said that he was not informed about this incident and that ICE’s concentration remains public safety threats.
Homan ‘amazed’ sanctuary cities won’t work with ICE
“I don’t care if you’re Republican, a Democrat, or independent,” Homan said.
He emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement to take action in county jails to address public safety threats.
“Why not arrest the guy that you locked in a jail cell? The public safety threat will solve a lot of this problem,” Homan added.
ditionally, Trump aides have indicated they may arrest others, such as spouses or roommates, who aren’t the primary target but are also in the country illegally. Trump hasn’t provided any specific timeline for the deportation.
On Monday, President Donald Trump signed several executive orders related to immigration, including declaring a national emergency at the border.
