DC Park Police officer shooting arrests two people Darren Foster Asheile Foster

In a recent development from the nation’s capital, the Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of two individuals following the shooting of a US Park Police officer on Monday night in Southeast Washington, DC.

Darren Foster, a 21-year-old resident of Southeast DC, was apprehended on Monday soon after the shooting incident occurred. Subsequently, on Tuesday, 22-year-old Asheile Foster, also from Southeast DC, was taken into custody. Both individuals now face charges of assault on a federal police officer using a firearm, as confirmed by the police department.

The harrowing incident unfolded around 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The US Park Police officer was engaged in the investigation of a US Park Police matter while seated in an unmarked Tesla vehicle, according to a report by FOX 5 DC.

During this time, it is alleged that two armed individuals approached the officer’s vehicle and opened fire, striking him in the upper body. The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

The shooting happened at about 7:30 p.m. Monday while the officer was investigating a USPP incident in an unmarked Tesla vehicle, FOX 5 DC reported.

Two armed men allegedly approached the officer’s car and fired multiple shots, hitting him in the upper body.

The officer was able to drive away, before being taken by USPP’s aviation unit to a local hospital for treatment.

US Park Police confirmed the officer suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, and he has since been discharged from the hospital.

FOX 5 reported MPD has information suggesting the suspects knew the person inside the Tesla was an officer, though no motive has been released.

Authorities raided a home near the shooting location Tuesday afternoon, entering with guns drawn, according to the outlet.

A K-9 unit also responded.

The case is being investigated by detectives from the MPD’s NIBIN Investigations Unit, which includes agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with USPP detectives.
