Tesla is facing global protests after Elon Musk’s involvement in downsizing federal agencies.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Electric car company Tesla has become a target for violent attacks and vandalism in the months since CEO Elon Musk joined the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Hundreds of anti-Musk protests are planned at Tesla locations worldwide this weekend, and a rally was held in Jacksonville Saturday in response to the recent DOGE cuts.

Tesla Takedown organizers told First Coast News the movement is fueled by anger over Musk’s downsizing of the federal government.

Mason Burnham, who was a part of the Tesla Takedown protests in Jacksonville, said Musk’s work to dismantle government agencies and workforce is the primary reason that made her come out and participate today.

“It’s horrific. I can’t believe that our government seems to be capitulating to this unelected billionaire,” Burnham said. “And so I’m just here to raise my voice to say, ‘Come, let’s snap out of it America.'”

According to the White House, DOGE was established to modernize federal technology and software while maximizing governmental efficiency and productivity.

Nancy Staats, who was one of the organizers of this protest, tells First Coast News she’s calling on Congress to stop these DOGE cuts from happening.

“This is not left and right. This is right and wrong, and you should not just go and dismantle things that have been put in place by Congress. It’s just not right,” Staats said.

First Coast News did reach out to the White House for comment in regards to the demonstration that took place today, but we’re still waiting to hear back.
