Ange Postecoglou hailed his side’s performance in victory over Luton and claimed Spurs players were desperate to ‘change the destiny of the club.’

The north London outfit climbed to the Premier League summit thanks to Micky van de Ven’s second half strike which was expertly set up by the in-form James Maddison.

The visitors’ task was made harder by the dismal of Yves Bissouma at the end of the first period after he was shown a second yellow card for diving.

I keep saying it’s a credit to the players.’ he said. ‘They’ve really bought in, they’re really tight as a group. You see that because of the manner we’re winning games. It’s not like they’ve been easy any of them.

‘Apart from the football which I think has been good, the resilience and character. They want to change the destiny of this football club and that’s what they’re trying to do.’

Postecoglou’s decision to bring on Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, who has struggled for game time behind Bissouma and Pape Sarr, at the interval helped the away side gain control despite the numerical disadvantage.

But despite the positive performance, Luton still had their chances and were ultimately made to rue the chances missed by Elijah Adebayo and Jacob Brown.

Tottenham’s sixth win of the season maintained their unbeaten start and saw them claim the top spot in the Premier League. But the Australian was in no risk of getting carried away by his team’s surprisingly fast start.

‘It’s going alright,’ he added when asked about the ease with which he’s taken to Premier League management. ‘But we’re in October and we’ve still got a lot of work to do.’
