Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has issued a detainer for Yefry Archaga-Elvir, an 18-year-old man from Honduras, who is facing charges related to the tragic death of a teenage boy in Missouri.
According to court documents, Archaga-Elvir is accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old Miles Young. The young victim believed he was going to meet a girl, but instead fell into a deadly trap.
In a bid to prevent Archaga-Elvir’s release before trial, ICE has urged Missouri authorities to deny any pre-trial release. They have painted a grim picture of the suspect, describing him as a “monstrous illegal alien” who orchestrated a “vicious ambush” on March 12.
Lauren Bis, acting assistant secretary of ICE’s Office of Public Affairs, expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, “Miles Young was lured to his death under the guise of meeting a girl. Instead, he was coldly ambushed and murdered by this illegal alien, who later boasted about the crime.”
Bis further criticized the circumstances surrounding Archaga-Elvir’s presence in the United States, attributing it to the policies of the Obama administration. “This individual was released into our country as a result of previous administration policies. ICE has lodged an arrest detainer, urging Missouri not to release this dangerous individual back into our communities,” she added.
Federal immigration authorities have revealed that Archaga-Elvir was initially detained in Texas as an unaccompanied minor back in 2015, marking the beginning of his controversial journey within the U.S. legal system.
The alleged fake meetup occurred in Springfield, where Archaga-Elvir and others boxed in Young’s vehicle with their own cars, according to authorities.
When Young exited his car and tried to run, Archaga-Elvir allegedly chased him down and shot him. Young’s last words were, ‘I just don’t want to die,’ according to witnesses.

The boy who was killed, Miles Young, was lured into an ambush in Springfield, Missouri, according to authorities. Police say Young’s car was boxed in by vehicles driven by Archaga-Elvir and others
Investigators believe the motive for the shooting was the fact that Young was a witness to an earlier murder and was set to testify in court.
Young had reportedly been warned not to go, but he ignored the advice, only to realize he walked into a trap when the vehicles were circling in.
Young’s final cry was followed by the sound of gunshots, per court documents. Young was shot in the chest, and later pronounced dead at Cox South Hospital.
After allegedly shooting Young, Archaga-Elvir ‘made a phone call’ to someone about the incident, and ‘was braggadocious’ about killing him, police said in a probable cause affidavit.
Archaga-Elvir allegedly fled after the shooting and was arrested March 31 after a two‑week manhunt. He is set to appear in court April 13.
A second suspect, Praize King, 18, also faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges after allegedly joining the ambush.
At least one other suspect, believed to be a juvenile, has yet to be identified.
Authorities said Young was killed because he was set to testify in a trial concerning a 2025 murder
