The I’m A Celebrity stars returned to Gwrych Castle on Tuesday after being evacuated due to Storm Arwen and while it didn’t take long for things to heat up between the campmates, viewers fumed they were underwhelmed with the ‘boring’ return episode.
It comes after the ITV show was forced off air for three nights after the extreme weather in Wales caused technical damage on set and meant the celebrities had to be removed from their camp and returned to quarantine.
Addressing the show’s return at the start of the programme, Dec quipped: ‘Hello! It’s been a crazy few days but the castle is back in business and the storm clouds have almost cleared on I’m A Celebrity!’

Oh dear: Tuesday’s return episode saw Kadeena Cox breaking down after taking part in a tense Bushtucker trial
Ant then added: ‘It feels so good to be back, we haven’t been with you since Friday as it caused a lot of damage the storm did. The castle was fine though, it turns out these places are built to last! We were working hard to get the show back up, and the team did an incredible job.’
Meanwhile, with meals at stake after a weekend in the relative comfort of central heated isolation away from the makeshift camp, Arlene and Kadeena joined forces for the ominously named Bed Chamber Of Chills for Tuesday’s trial.
After their fellow campmates decided amongst themselves that Kadeena and Arlene would compete for stars in the latest trial, the two set off to meet hosts Ant and Dec.
They soon discovered that they would be hopping onto a bunkbed before being plunged into darkness to secure coveted stars as snakes slithered over them.
However despite the scary trial, viewers were left underwhelmed with the show, branding it boring, while others even switched off entirely after complaining it was only five minuted longer than a normal episode after an entire three shows were missed.
‘It’s just not the same as the jungle. Huge disappointment,’ one fan fumed, while another wrote: ‘I’m A Celeb 2021 is officially dead.’
Another complained: ‘I don’t know why they bothered carrying on with this series. It’s so boring.’

Reaction: However despite the scary trial, viewers were left underwhelmed with the show, branding it boring, while other even switched off entirely
A fourth commented: ‘Honestly I had to switch channels. It’s so boring and there’s zero drama. Bring back Kim Woodburn and Katie Price.’
‘I can’t believe tonight’s #ImACeleb is only on for 1 hour 5 minutes when it’s like 5 days of footage,’ wrote another disgruntled fan on Twitter.
And another added: ‘I was hoping for more than only an hour & five minute episode after not getting one for three days.’
At the start of the trail with Kadeena and Arlene, Ant explained: ‘Behind that door is the Bed Chamber of Chills.
‘The bed chamber contains a bunk bed. One of you must take the top bunk, the other one the bottom bunk. On the roof of the top bunk are 11 stars.

‘The celebrity in the top bunk must manoeuvre the stars around the maze to release them. They can then be dropped through a hole to the person in the bottom bunk.
‘The celebrity on the bottom bunk will then need to find the star and place it in the collection rack.’
Kadeena and Arlene managed to walk away with an impressive ten out of eleven stars.

After the trial, Kadeena cried as Arlene said: ‘I was so determined we were going to do it.’
Kadeena added: ‘Once I found my route and found where I was going. I could feel stuff moving around… I’m not sure I was that calm. I’m buzzing.’
Returning to camp, Arlene quipped: ‘We could not get 11 stars…’ before Kadeena interjected: ‘We got 10!’
Dream team: Also in Tuesday’s episode, Louise and David took on the latest Castle Coin Challenge
In the Telegraph Naughty Boy said of their accomplishment: ’10 out 11 stars is amazing, they did us proud.’
However, tension rose between Naughty Boy and Kadeena later in the evening as he cooked the oxtail won at the earlier trial.
Offering the music producer cooking tips, he responded: ‘Kadeena please, I’m just working it out,’ before saying to Snoochie Shy: ‘I’ve never cut oxtail. Before I’ve even got into it Kadeena’s telling me, ”Naughty you need to…”’
Tensions: However, tension rose between Naughty Boy and Kadeena later in the evening as he cooked the oxtail won at the earlier trial
Unhappy with Naughty Boy’s comments, Kadeena said: ‘If he’s going to moan about it, just say it to me. I was just trying to help.’
He replied: ‘The thing is, before I’ve even cut it, you’re telling me what to do.’
Kadeena fired back: ‘I was just letting you know there was a bone that was going to be hard to get through. I’m cool not helping, I was just like, whatever…’
Naughty Boy then turned to Snoochie and asked: ‘That’s not rude is it? I don’t want her to take it the wrong way,’ but Kadeena insisted: ‘It’s cool.’
Elsewhere, the morning started with Frankie admitting she has been breaking wind in her sleeping bag.
The former Saturdays singer said in the Telegraph: ‘Something quite satisfying about it. I don’t know why. Look, we’re eating so many beans, everyone’s at it.
‘When you’re around everyone, you don’t want to be doing that when you’re around the campmates. So, I think maybe your sleeping bag’s the safest place for it.’
Also in Tuesday’s episode, Louise and David took on the latest Castle Coin Challenge.
Quite the confession: The morning started with Frankie admitting she has been breaking wind in her sleeping bag
Reading the scroll aloud, Louise said: ‘The Lords’ ponies are hungry. They demand to be fed. Search within the crates to find the apples that are red. Get one in each bucket, by sliding it down the board, then off you can trot, to claim your reward.’
The pair won the coins and headed to Kiosk Cledwyn’s Ye Olde Shoppe, where they were asked to choose between Twiglets and apple pie, eventually settling on the latter.
The question to camp was: ‘According to a recent survey, what percentage of adults said they pretended to be bad at a job in the hope that they wouldn’t be asked to do it again? A: 20% or B 37%?’
The campmates guessed 20% and were correct, prompting David to joke about running away with the four small apple pies.
Nightmare: It comes after the ITV show was forced off air for three nights after the extreme weather caused technical damage on set and meant the celebrities had to be removed from their camp and returned to quarantine
The latest episode comes after reports that the campmates have been given handwarmers since the storm to keep them warm.
A source told The Sun: ‘Bosses know this is a programme where there’s an expectation from the viewers that the celebs aren’t in a holiday camp.
‘But equally they have a duty of care to them, particularly the older, more vulnerable contestants.
‘Not everyone will choose to use a heater, but they are there if they are wanted.’
I’m A Celebrity has been contacted by MailOnline for a comment.
Elsewhere on the show Simon Gregson revealed the shocking abuse he received in the street after joining the cast of Coronation Street.
He said: ‘It was difficult for a while to adjust. It’s like, ‘This isn’t what I planned for myself and I do not like it’.’
Back on: I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant and Declan detailed how the stars found life outside the castle – after they were removed from camp due to Storm Arwen – as they appeared on Tuesday’s This Morning
Shocked, fellow I’m A Celeb star Kadeena Cox asked if he really didn’t like it.
‘I hated it!’ he said. ‘The fame side of it, I hated. It was really negative feedback, getting beaten up, spat at, property being damaged.’
As his campmates gasped, Simon added: ‘It was shocking.’
Simon was then shown talking in the Telegraph, where he said: ‘I was never a fan of the limelight, but it turned out nice in the end.
‘I’m here in a castle eating rice and beans!’
The celebrities were seen returning to Gwrych Castle on Tuesday, after being evacuated due to Storm Arwen.
However a looming forecast of snow means that the celebrities’ return to camp could be short lived as bad weather continues to threaten the show.
Recent brutal weather conditions meant ITV were forced to stop filming for three days after the wind and rain caused technical damage on set.
On Monday, insiders told the Sun that the the storm had cost the show £1million in damages, due to breakages, staffing costs and loss of advertising revenue.
Speaking on Tuesday’s This Morning, host Declan Donnelly explained how the celebs maintained their camp routines while in isolation.
He said: ‘They’ve been in there (castle) the best part of a week. They’ve all really bonded. They were absolutely gutted to leave, they were like just get us back in as soon as you can.
‘Arlene took her sleeping bag because she’d been sleeping really well in there. Danny Miller’s been sleeping on the floor because he’s not comfortable in the bed. They’re raring to go back in and finish he challenge.’
Last week Frankie begged producers to let her wash her knickers because they had begun to smell of ‘fish guts and offal’.
Ant McPartlin, who appeared with Dec from his cottage in Wales, revealed that she had taken her undergarments with her to give them a refresh.
Admitting they were ‘gutted’ that the storm caused the show to come off air, the duo revealed that only the castle itself remained unaffected as the storm ripped through marquees and tents.
They said: ‘We got a call on Friday afternoon to come into site ASAP as we had to pre-record the show just to be safe in case satellites went down.’
Dec told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: ‘The wind had destroyed the tent base. The site was unsafe.
‘No one was allowed back on the site. We had no choice but to pull he show. We were just gutted.
‘We had to put the celebs back in to quarantine. It’s been a huge upheaval of a week.’
Ant said: ‘They worked round the clock.
‘The castle is the one thing that’s absolutely fine. The only reason we took the celebrities out because it was just mean to leave them.
‘They have no phones, no internet and are cut off from the rest of the world – just how we like it.’
He added: ‘They were absolutely gutted to leave. Arlene took her sleeping bag. Danny’s been sleeping on the floor because he’s not comfortable in the bed.
‘They’ve done a week of it and they want the full experience.’
Ant went on to explain that there is worry among the crew as more bad weather is reportedly on the way.
He explained: ‘There’s a slight worry because I think there’s more bad weather coming next week.
‘But it’s just temperatures dropping and maybe a bit of snow, a bit of frost. So I think we can cope with that. I mean touch wood, touch wood.’
Get me back in there! The hit ITV show was pulled off-air for three nights due to damage caused by the storm – with the celebrities forced back into quarantine after a week in Gwrych Castle, due to safety fears. They have now returned to camp (pictured last week)
Dec added: ‘We’d never get this in Australia.’
Ant crossed his fingers and said: ‘Let’s not speak too soon but let’s hope we’re back on now through to the end.’
This comes as I’m A Celebrity bosses described the damage caused by Storm Arwen a ‘£1million disaster’ as the show was kept off air for its third night running on Monday.
The ITV show’s producers said it was ‘the worst case scenario’ to lose three episodes of the money-making series and are devastated that the relentless weather conditions have destroyed valuable equipment.
The seven-figure sum has also been raked up by lost advertising revenue and staffing costs, with team members working around the clock to resolve the amounting problems.
A show source revealed to The Sun: ‘It’s been a complete nightmare of a weekend.
‘Some really expensive equipment was damaged in the storm, not just a few marquees going over here and there.
‘Everyone is working every hour under the sun – and with hired help that also means extra pay. It’s been described on site as the £1million disaster. It’s been an expensive few days to say the least.’
