NRL  star Beau Ryan sensationally quit I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! on Thursday night’s episode.

The 36-year-old made the shock announcement during a late-night discussion with his campmates, where he abruptly said he missed his family and needed to leave.

‘As you know the last couple of days I’ve been struggling, and today I was a bit broken. It’s been really hard for me,’ he said.

‘The reason I did this show is to test myself, which I have. I’ve shown Australia the good, bad and ugly of me.

‘I’ve had some moments where I regret, some moments I don’t and I’m proud of everything that’s happened.’

He added that he ‘can’t explain’ how it feels to have met such a wonderful group of people, before saying how he needed to be with his wife Kara and their daughter Remi, eight, and three-year-old son, Jesse.

‘I remember growing up and a guy two houses down from me – the dad was always away for work. I don’t want to be that dad,’ he said.

‘My kids need their dad. My wife needs a husband, and I need to find myself back.

‘I came in here to prove myself. I can’t gain anything else from this show. My journey here is over, and I love you guys.’

He then uttered the famous words: ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.’

The announcement brought about mixed opinions from viewers, who were shocked with his decision to leave the show – and the chance to win $100,000 for his chosen charity.

‘You are also leaving your charity, which is why you are there, Beau. Zero respect from me,’ one critic wrote.

Others questioned his hosting duties on The Amazing Race, a gig which sees him present in remote locations far away from his family for weeks on end.

‘Ok then. Wonder what that means for The Amazing Race… away from family for that?’ another fan questioned.

‘If he doesn’t want to be a parent who’s always travelling I wonder if he won’t host Amazing Race anymore?’ another added.

‘Given the amount of time Beau is away from home for his work, I’m not sure I accept the reasoning. But sure. Bye,’ another wrote.

‘Well Beau won’t be getting a bonus from Channel 10 this year… quitting a show… can’t be away from his family but can do amazing race,’ another said.

‘This might be the most honourable thing he’s done. Good for you, Beau,’ another added.

Earlier in the episode, Beau had shared how hard it felt to be separated from his children in a discussion with Dylan Lewis and Cal Wilson.

‘When people ask “What do you look forward to most?”, I just want to be there with my son or my daughter,’ he said.

‘Because I’ve had times that I regret, like looking at when my daughter was real little where I was not present.’
