While hardly an elevated slice of British history, it was the WAG war that dominated headlines for almost a year – its details so salacious and tawdry, it became one of the most talked about affairs of the decade.
And while just everyone following the saga of England footballer Kyle Walker, his wife Annie Kilner, mistress Lauryn Goodman and the two children he secretly fathered, thought everything had gone quiet, it’s all about to kick off again.
Because, I can reveal, another war is about to break out between Team Walker and Team Goodman – this time over an autobiography Lauryn is to publish.
Lauryn, 34, is said to be in the ‘early stages’ of her project but has signed a ghostwriter – a journalist friend at a red-top newspaper – to pen it.
She insists that she will not be made to ‘go away’ by the Walkers, and that she feels it is her duty to make sure her children with Kyle are not ‘forgotten’.
But I’m also told that the Walkers have got wind of Lauryn’s latest money-spinning project, and will be consulting lawyers to make sure there is nothing in the book that is untrue or infringes upon their children’s rights to privacy.
A source close to Kyle tells me: ‘Here we go again, she just won’t go away with all of this. But if Lauryn thinks that it is going to all go swimmingly for her, then she has got another thing coming.
‘By the time we have finished it won’t be a book, it will be a pamphlet.’

Lauryn, an influencer and single mother, is said to be keen to ‘tell her truth’ about the fall out with Kyle and Annie which – in case anyone missed it – started in 2020 when she revealed the then-Manchester City star was the father of her now five-year-old son, Kairo.
Understandably furious, Annie, his childhood sweetheart and at the time mother to his three – soon to be four – other boys, initially kicked Kyle out of the family’s £3.5million Cheshire mansion.
He moved into rental accommodation in nearby Hale, Cheshire, before Annie agreed to take him back on the proviso that he sever all contact with Lauryn beyond his ongoing financial commitments.
But things became a whole lot worse on December 27, 2023, when Lauryn told Annie on a WhatsApp message that Kyle was the father of her second child, daughter Kinara, who was born in August 2023.
Lauryn wrote: ‘Hey it’s Lauryn. I just wanted to quickly tell you that Kyle is the father of our daughter. He’s been having a relationship with us all including the baby & I’ve got everything to prove it. He’s been apart of our lives seeing the children [sic].
‘I wanted to have the decency to tell you. If you want to speak further we can but he’s been lying to us both. He doesn’t want us to speak.’
Kyle had until then kept his mistress’s pregnancy a secret from his wife and has since revealed how it was Annie’s own pregnancy – their youngest son, Rezon, was born in April last year – which was ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back’ for the couple.
He went on to give an emotional ‘mea culpa’ interview, in which he spoke of making ‘idiot choices and idiot decisions’ over his secret affairs and how he bitterly regretted betraying ‘soulmate’ Annie – whom he met when they were both teenagers living in Sheffield.

Lauryn and Kyle last faced each other in the High Court last summer, when they thrashed out financial provisions for the children – and where the full-scale of her avarice, plus the bitterness between the two factions, was laid bare.
The court heard how – along with a £2.4million mansion and £70,000 Mercedes – Lauryn had demanded a £31,200 artificial turf pitch for the children, stating that Kinara could kick a ball before she could walk, surely marking her out for Lioness footballing glory.
Sources close to Lauryn say she has been desperate to write a book for some time and is planning some material that will almost certainly make for uncomfortable reading for her former lover and his wife.
There are also fears she will detail other exchanges between her and Kyle, 34, and Annie, 33, and that despite Lauryn already doing numerous interviews with the media, there is still plenty left for the Walkers to fear coming out.
The Walkers, I’m told, are weary of the whole Lauryn saga: ‘Of course she is welcome to do whatever she wants but if there are any untruths in the book then there will be some serious trouble. Kyle and Annie are sick of it and they are not having this anymore. They’re calling her out now, it’s ridiculous.
‘They are trying their very best to move on from all of this and Lauryn has everything she needs to have a nice life but she just won’t drop it. Annie and Kyle have had enough now.’
Meanwhile, friends of Lauryn’s say she is determined to have her say.
‘As we know, she does not hold back when she wants to say something she wants out there so it is likely to cause Kyle and Annie yet another headache. They have been trying to move on from all of this but with a book on its way, it will again be pretty impossible,’ said one.
‘Lauryn doesn’t seem to want to live a quiet life, she has been wanting to do a book for some time and has been asking around for someone to write it for her for a little less than a year now. Sparks are going to fly when this comes out.’
In January, Kyle relocated – albeit temporarily – to Italy after he signed a loan deal to play for AC Milan. It is not yet known whether he will sign permanently next season, go elsewhere or stay in the UK. Annie has remained at home with their four children, Roman, 13, Riaan, nine, Reign, seven, and Rezon, who is about to turn one.
There was speculation, however, that Lauryn was about to follow him to Europe when it was claimed she had asked for permission to rent out her home in Sussex – one that Kyle bought for her – so she could fund a life abroad.
In what appeared to be an attempt to attract some attention, photographs appeared in the media showing Lauryn apparently packing up her home.
She was pictured next to a lorry which was full to the brim with boxes. Lauryn later came out and said she wasn’t moving.
But, however much Kyle and Annie would like her to, it would seem she’s not ready to slink into the shadows just yet.
Her attempt to get a reality show about being a WAG off the ground with ITV last year came to nothing, but she’s said to be in negotiations with Channel 4 to make a documentary about badly behaved footballers – which would almost certainly mean putting Kyle under the microscope.
Sources close to Lauryn have confirmed that the project is in the early stages and is working with an agent to get it up and running.
However, those who know the Walkers have pointed out that they have in the past considered taking legal action against Lauryn as they believe her constant social media posts and interviews are tantamount to harassment.
‘Kyle has supported Lauryn financially and has been extremely generous,’ said one source close to the family. ‘But she just won’t stop and that has affected their children. Their oldest son is now a teenager so he could, in theory, read everything.
‘There is always the option to do this but, of course, they would rather everyone just lived their lives as happily as possible after what has been an extremely difficult period for all concerned.’
Unfortunately, as an associate of Lauryn’s points, out: ‘There’s absolutely no chance of that happening.’
