Peter Andre has long been depicted as the virtuous figure who stepped in to provide his children with a stable environment after his short-lived marriage to the volatile glamour model Katie Price collapsed dramatically.

Lately, this well-established narrative has increasingly unraveled, leaving Andre to face a growing backlash. Interest in their daughter Princess Andre’s new reality show has led viewers to critically reassess the couple’s tumultuous marriage from two decades ago.

Social media users have started accusing Andre of being manipulative during his tumultuous four-year marriage to Price and of failing to adequately support her in her battles with mental health.

Circulating footage depicts Andre exhibiting behaviors that, by modern standards, could be perceived as – and which those sharing it claim are – narcissistic and misogynistic towards Price.

Critics further accuse him of exploiting her as “a meal ticket” to elevate himself to mainstream fame, with the financial opportunities that accompanied that status, and then walking away.

With public sympathy for the erratic Price having waned in recent years, Andre might be able to endure this and continue being perceived as a good guy. However, amidst the flurry of accusations, lies one he might find harder to dismiss.

And this comes in the form of an historic clip, recorded sometime between 2005 to 2009 when the couple were together, now being widely circulated which appears to show Andre mocking Katie’s autistic and disabled son Harvey – in other words being ‘disablist’.

The clip shows Andre likening his then stepson to the wheelchair-bound character Andy played by Matt Lucas who had the catchphrase, ‘I want that one’ on the then popular but now increasingly controversial comedy show Little Britain.

Andre is seen seeming to goad a young Harvey – who Price had conceived during a short relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke.

The boy is seen sitting in a wheelchair, and being asked to say, ‘I want that one’, mimicking the catchphrase from the sketch in an apparent joke about his multiple disabilities.

The singer then bursts into laughter when Harvey, who suffers from the early brain development disorder septo-optic dysplasia and the genetic disorder Prader-Willi syndrome, mumbles the phrase back at him.

The video shows Andre saying, ‘a bit Matt Lucasey, ayy’, before Price walks into the room – and defends her son with the words: ‘No he doesn’t, he’s my Harvey’.

Social media users have responded to the clip, shared on TikTok and other social media platforms by describing Andre’s actions as ‘horrible’ and ‘vile’.

One viewer sarcastically stated: ‘Saint Peter’ and another added: ‘This is horrendous and disgraceful to watch’.

The release of Princess Andre’s own reality show, The Princess Diaries, to coincide with her 18th birthday, has sparked fresh public attention on the whole family – and particular scrutiny of Andre.

As well as the episode with Harvey, there is also potentially problematic content involving him on camera talking to the son he had with Price, Junior, now 20, when he was a little boy.

Andre is seen saying to young Junior: ‘If you are a girl, that means you can’t kiss girls’. 

Junior replies, ‘You have to kiss boys’, and Andre says: ‘Yes, and we don’t want you to do that.’

While some comments on the post praised the singer for being a ‘great dad’ for teaching his son what is ‘right’, others said it made them lose ‘respect’ for him as he was being homophobic.

A series of other clips from reality shows, posted by fans of Price, show her being verbally abused by Andre who is father to her Princess and Junior.

One clip, which would have been recorded during their four year marriage in the late 2000s, features him swearing at her in a foul-mouthed rant, saying: ‘You’re a f***ing idiot. I hope you learn a lesson and come down a peg or two because you are too up your own arse…. You’re a f***ing arrogant bitch.’

When an aide urges him to stop, he continues: ‘No, I am not having her to talk to me like that in front of anybody, ever. Don’t f***ing ever talk to me like that. Understand. F***ing idiot. Stupid, arrogant little f***ing cow. Stuck up beaver.

‘I’m going home. I’m not having it, I’m sorry. She’s f***ed it up again.’

When Price asks, ‘What did I do wrong?’, he replies: ‘How dare you f***ing talk to me like that. Think you are going to get away with it? … I hope you learn a lesson and come down a peg or two.’

Another clip shows Andre trying to put down Price when she is apparently moody while eight months pregnant after rushing from a filming engagement to meet friends for her own birthday party.

The video taken as Andre drives her to the venue features him saying sarcastically: ‘You have just made me feel like s*** on your birthday this time. I didn’t think that could possibly happen – but that’s alright.

‘What you do is make everyone else feel the same way you do… You make everyone else feel like s*** and it’s unfair… it’s wrong what you do… you’ve put me in the foulest mood.’

Andre then refuses to get out of the car with her, and launches into another rant as he sits alone in the driving seat, telling the camera: ‘Honestly she is the hardest woman to live with. She is such hard work. It’s so, so, so, so bad to live with that woman. 

‘She makes life so difficult for everyone. I have never had so much stress in my entire life as I have had with that woman. She treats everybody like shit. I am f***ing sick of it.’

In another clip that seems at odds with modern sensibilities Andre appears to boast about the size of his penis – and makes a comment about carrying out a sex act with Price while she is sitting beside him.

When she says: ‘Why do you always put me down?’, he responds by saying: ‘It means your a*** is big.’

Price is also seen in the back of a car with him in one more clip, where he refers to her as ‘a former page three slut’ and calls himself ‘a pop pin up’, while another features him telling her that she will never be able to find another man due to having ‘three kids’.

One fan of Price describes him as a ‘jealous creep’ in a further clip where he shows his insecurity by repeatedly demanding to know who she had said ‘hiya’ to while they were in a studio. The video ends with him simulating Price carrying out a sex act on herself.

In yet another clip posted by the same fan, who referred to Andre as ‘an absolute man child’, he appears to be winding up Price by remaining in his home recording studio when they still have to pack their belongings just two hours before moving house.

Price, now 47, and Andre, 52, famously got together in the Australian jungle when they appeared on the TV show I’m a Celebrity in 2004 at a time when his brief 1990s pop career was said to be in freefall.

They married the following year, but split bitterly in 2009 after being seen regularly arguing on their reality show Katie & Peter. She insisted at the time that Andre’s decision to leave her had left her ‘devastated and disappointed’.

Price only revealed on Paul C Brunson’s podcast, ‘We Need To Talk’, in May this year that the true reason for their break-up was because Andre wrongly thought she was having an affair with dressage rider Andrew Gold when she in fact only kept her horse on his premises.

She went on to have a whirlwind relationship and marriage with cage fighter Alex Reid after her divorce from Andre, but they split in 2011, just 20 months after their Las Vegas wedding.

Price then dated model Danny Cipriani before being briefly engaged to Argentinian model Leandro Penna, and married her third husband Kieran Hayler in 2013, having two children with him – Jett and Bunny – before their divorce in 2018.

While Price has had two marriages and a string of often problematic relationships since her divorce from Andre, the singer’s path to true love appears to have run far smoother, as he has just celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with his second wife Emily MacDonagh.

The couple who have a 16 year age gap famously first met in 2010 when Emily was aged just 20 after her doctor father Ruaraidh MacDonagh performed a kidney stone operation on the singer.

Andre needed the surgery after falling ill before a concert in Plymouth, Devon. He later became friends with Ruaraidh, and gave him two tickets for his re-scheduled concert in Plymouth which his wife and Emily attended.

He has stated that his romantic feelings for medical student Emily developed two years later in 2012, and he only asked her on a date after asking her father’s permission.

Andre proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2013 when she was heavily pregnant with the first of their three children together, and they married in July 2015 at historic Mamhead House in Exeter, Devon.

Price’s terminally ill mother Amy Price revealed in her 2023 book ‘The Last Word’ that she had concerns about Andre from the start, saying he had turned her daughter’s ‘world upside down in the worst possible way’.

She wrote: ‘From the word go, something didn’t feel right about Peter. I had an inkling that he wasn’t who he claimed to be. He came across as gushing and gentlemanly, but I sensed a manipulative side to his character, a man who spoke from the mouth rather than the heart.

‘His career was in decline and I think he saw an opportunity in my daughter, an opportunity he was quick to seize. When she was younger, Kate had pictures of Pete on her wall. I told her not to fall for him, partially because I had never really taken to him.’

Amy stated that her daughter was ‘totally besotted’ with Andre and ‘smitten with him’ when she emerged from the I’m a Celebrity jungle while it ‘felt more business-like in the Pete camp’.

She added that neither of them seemed happy in the early days of their relationship, despite their PR teams saying ‘it was a match made in heaven’.

Amy said that Price had plenty of business opportunities as they settled down together, including writing books, launching a bed linen range at Matalan, a range of Argos jewellery, a keep fit video, lingerie and equestrian clothing, while Andre tried to resurrect his music career.

But she told how editing of their reality shows made her daughter ‘look moody and uncooperative and Pete look like the good guy’.

Amy said: ‘Kate wasn’t as clever as Pete at playing the cameras. Sometimes she couldn’t hold back her upset, but her anxieties were met by him with, ‘What’s wrong with you now?’ or ‘Why are you going on?’

‘He used to turn a subtle cry for help into an argument for the TV which would make Kate look bad.

‘I had sensed from the very beginning that his career was his main priority. Now for every negative story that surfaced about Kate, another surfaced about Pete’s reputation as a Super Dad.’

Amy said the breakdown of their relationship led to her daughter’s ‘demonisation in the press’. She added: ‘Somehow Pete remained the handsome prince while she became the evil snow queen.’

She went on to describe how ‘photos of Pete with the kids strawberry picking and taking part in other activities were often being fed to the press’, saying: ‘He had the opportunities to defend her as particularly harsh headlines surfaced, but he chose not to.’

Amy also referenced the video clip of Andre apparently teasing Harvey by getting him to repeat the phrase from Little Britain, describing it as ‘a deeply disturbing video ‘which I cant get out of my mind’.

The bust-up between Price and Andre erupted again on Thursday last week when she urged him to take part in ‘peace talks’, claiming she had been ‘banned from appearing in The Princess Diaries, and that their daughter had been ‘unfairly’ dragged into their family feud.

Andre shared his side of the story just hours later with an explosive statement on Instagram, saying: ‘The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight.

‘For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood.

‘In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before out of respect for my children.

‘In 2011 and 2015, publicly documented court cases found my ex-wife had made false claims. She was ordered to pay substantial damages and legal costs, and to apologise, to me and my management.

‘The same falsehoods are being repeated today. Unfortunately, there are many more lies and baseless accusations that I have yet to address. Those will be dealt with in the coming months.’

He made his statement just hours after Price claimed that Princess was living with her on her latest podcast.

She said: ‘I’ve missed out so much with Princess. I haven’t watched the show, but, people have told me how proud I should be of the kids and how they Princess does talk highly of me all the way through it so although I’m not in the show she speaks about me all the time which is really sweet.

‘But why wouldn’t she, because she lives with me. And this is another thing I need to clear up, the kids have never lived just with Pete, we’ve shared the kids.’

Price responded to Andre’s statement with her own missive on Instagram, a day later where she effectively criticised his golden-boy reputation and branded him as a ‘fake saint’.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘As we know, in this life we are thought of as Saints and Sinners. I know I will always be seen as a Sinner. That’s fair, I allowed myself to fall into a reliance on drugs and alcohol. At times I was not the mother I should have been while I struggled with mental illness.

‘I have been at times a poor friend, an awful sibling, and an untrustworthy partner. I’ve self-medicated, been unfaithful, damaged myself and those that I love.’

She added: ‘I’ve had my reasons – I was sexually abused when younger; had relationships that have been coercive; and my mental health issues – but I don’t want to make excuses. I’ve recognised my issues and worked to put them behind me.

‘Sometimes I tried and failed, sometimes I succeeded. I’ve pulled myself out of a suicidal spiral because I love my children and want to be there for them. I don’t pretend to be perfect by any means – but I’m trying to be the best I can.’

She went on to seemingly then turn her attention to Andre, saying: ‘Then there are the ‘Saints’. Some are genuine and some have helped me.

‘But some Saints are not who they would have you believe they are. They have a carefully managed image which must be exhausting to maintain.

‘Some Saints are fake. They play the victim and to succeed in life they need a villain…or at least a Sinner. Without the Sinner they don’t get to be the Saint…’

Price concluded: ‘As a Sinner – I sometimes get bored of these Saints. But maybe I should feel sorry for them. It must be such hard work having to pretend all the time. Anyway, all you Sinners keep your heads up and keep trying to be better. All you Saints, it’s ok not to be perfect.’

The release of The Princess Diaries led to some fans viewing old episodes of Price’s 2007 reality show ‘Katie and Peter: The Next Chapter’, and being disturbed by her husband’s treatment of her.

One user on Reddit posted: ‘So I went on YouTube and have been watching the show. He is so cruel. The way he talks to her, calling her names and being a right plonker – and when she rightly snaps back at him, he plays victim.

‘My thing is, if that’s how he spoke to her in front of the camera, I can’t imagine how he treated her off camera.

‘He calls her things like s**t too right, and makes derogatory remarks about her being a formal glamour model, yet I’ve yet to see an episode where he’s not moaning about her not putting out.

‘Like he’s constantly trying to hunch on her yet makes her out to be the over s*xualised one.

‘Even solo filming he takes jabs. Like he’s just opened a car door, says its disgusting and ‘smells like Kate’s crack’. Dude! Thats your wife! You’re supposed to love and respect her. Its gross!

‘I feel genuinely sorry for Katie watching this. Especially knowing how it’s all gonna end – and she gets left by everyone (Pete and management)’.

Another user responded: ‘I’ve always been 100% convinced that Peter Andre went into IAC (I’m a Celebrity) for the purpose of playing the media game from the start.

‘His intention was always to hook up with whoever he could, and work his way back into the limelight. He struck lucky that Katie Price was in there, and she was his golden ticket. Never been a fan of KP, but I loathe Andre for this reason.’

One more Reddit user posted: ‘I do think he cared about Katie and Harvey in his own way, but she was definitely his meal ticket into the mainstream fame. They had five year’s worth of reality TV shows to prove it.

‘He worked hard to make Katie look terrible in the divorce and he was such a ‘nice guy’ who just wanted to be a good dad to his kids and Harvey, who wasn’t his son… he was willing to step up, or at least that’s the narrative he’s always pushed.’

Andre also came under fire earlier this year for his role in his new film Jafaican where his character dons fake dreadlocks and puts on a Jamaica accent after being given three weeks to master Jamaican culture to carry out a fraud.

Critics have described his blackface-style role as ‘profoundly disrespectful’, although Andre later insisted he had been the victim of bullying and racism while growing up in Australia, and he did not believe that the film was truly offensive.

The BBC’s Little Britain was removed from both iplayer and Netflix after its sketches about characters like Lou and Andy, Dafydd as ‘the only gay in the village’ and Thai Bride Ting Tong were increasingly seen as offensive. It has since been restored after a number of scenes were cut.
