Amid the challenges of her highly publicized split from Sacha Baron Cohen after 14 years together, Isla Fisher has been maintaining a brave demeanor.
The 49-year-old actress recently opened up about the difficulties of starting anew, admitting that the process of building a life from scratch has been “tough.” She confessed to shedding tears when moving her furniture into her new residence.
Fisher elaborated, saying, “Emotionally, trying to build a new life from the ground up has been challenging, yet it’s also been incredibly rewarding.”
She shared her enjoyment of her current lifestyle, saying, “I’m relishing this new phase of my life. I no longer feel the need to host parties at home. I love soaking in the bath, lighting candles, and watching something on Netflix. That’s as thrilling as it gets for me now.”
In a candid moment shared with ELLE Decoration, Fisher recalled, “I did have a bit of a cry when my furniture arrived because it marked my first experience as a single woman in my own home.”
Additionally, Fisher mentioned that she has arranged her children’s bedrooms to be on the same floor as hers, allowing her to keep a closer eye on their smartphone usage.
Isla Fisher has admitted that creating a new life from a grassroots level has been ‘tough’, and said she ‘cried’ when she moved the furniture into her new home following her divorce
The actress, 49, has been putting on a brave face while going through a very public divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen after 14 years of marriage
She shares three children – two daughters and one son – with her ex, Cohen.
‘I wanted the kids’ bedrooms on my floor so that I can monitor smartphone use; there needed to be space for my family who live in Greece and visit me a lot and, lastly, outdoor space. With the Australian upbringing I was lucky enough to have, I’ve always been barefoot in the garden or on the beach, so this is as close as I can get to feeling like I’m home,’ she shared.
Isla, who announced her split from the Borat actor in April last year, previously revealed how she had been picking up the pieces in the wake of the split, admitting that the Carl Jung method had helped her heal in a healthy way.
The Jungian method is a therapeutic approach that explores unconscious forces, dreams, symbols and archetypes, aiming towards self-understanding, self-integration and fulfilment.
‘This is totally personal and I say this with the caveat as it worked for me, but the concept of processing stuff and taking your time, thinking about it again and again, you don’t really feel better that way,’ she told The Australian.
Instead, the Wedding Crashers star kept moving following the divorce, saying ‘yes’ to any opportunity that came her way and throwing herself into her work.
The move has seen Isla keeping busy on film sets, staying active in her community and reinventing herself creatively after what she calls a parental ‘power pause’.
She also told ELLE Decoration about the moment her furniture arrived: ‘I did have a bit of a cry because this was my first time as a single woman, being in a home of my own’

‘It’s amazing to me that at this point in my life I’ve got this opportunity, in a positive way, to reinvent what the last act of my life is now from the ground up,’ she said, gushing that she loved returning to work.
The actress went on to explain she didn’t fall out of love with acting during her hiatus from the screen, she was just more in love with motherhood, and still is.
But now, thanks to the extra time that co-parenting brings, she can do both.
‘For most parents, we focus on our kids and it’s so divine and magical and so absorbing, but now I have some time where the kids aren’t with me, so I get some time to think about what the future might hold for me.’

‘After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down,’ the caption accompanying the picture read.
‘In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritised our privacy and have been quietly working through this change.
‘We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.’
