North Carolina officials have released the 911 call which led to Sunday’s discovery of a body in a backyard burn pit.

According to The News & Observer, a resident in Cary had reported what they believed was a trash fire behind a 5-foot fence in a nearby yard. However, firefighters at the scene found human remains in a pit on the property —  where the homeowner reportedly suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound in an RV.

“It’s a huge plume of smoke; it’s like a ball,” the 911 caller said, per the news outlet.

The homeowner, who has not yet been publicly named, suffered life-threatening injuries. The body has not been identified as officials said it was burned to the point that they could not discern their race or gender.

WRAL reported that a woman who was found in another RV on the property is cooperating with authorities.

Regarding the property where Sunday’s incident transpired, Cary police Sargent Kenric Alexander commented,  “It’s not the first time we have been there.”
