Sylvester Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, recently shared a contentious view regarding the perceived rise of transgender children in Hollywood. During her appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast, Flavin suggested that the lack of “structure” in Hollywood families might be a contributing factor to this phenomenon.
Flavin, who is 57, explained her perspective to Katie Miller, a former press secretary for President Donald Trump and communications director for former Vice President Mike Pence. Miller is currently involved in the private sector, working with Elon Musk. Her husband, Stephen Miller, served as a homeland security advisor under Trump and was involved in various national policies.
In her discussion, Flavin commented on Hollywood’s emphasis on self-expression. “Hollywood is all about expression, and you can express yourself however you want,” she remarked. Flavin’s comments alluded to a debunked myth about schools supposedly accommodating children identifying as cats by providing litter boxes.
Flavin emphasized the importance of structure for children, expressing concern that some parents might treat their children more like accessories rather than individuals with needs. She and her husband recently moved from California to Florida, a state governed by Republicans, seeking a different environment for their family.
‘If you feel like a cat today, you’re a cat. And it’s so loosey-goosey,’ Flavin continued, seemingly alluding to a myth that litter boxes have been placed in some American schools for children who identify as cats, which has been repeatedly debunked in recent years.
‘I don’t think that we’re really understanding that these kids are not our accessories,’ said Flavin, who fled California with her husband for Republican-controlled Florida last year. ‘They’re little human beings that need structure. And structure is really important for them because it helps their brain organize everything.’

Flavin was speaking with Katie Miller (R), the wife of Donald Trump’s homeland security advisor and deputy chief of staff for policy, Stephen Miller (L), who has reportedly been an architect of ICE raids across the country and National Guard deployments in cities including LA, Chicago and Washington, DC; seen together in April in Washington, DC
The model, who married Stallone in 1997, also suggested that the immense wealth of people in Hollywood contributed to an alleged trend of transgender children.
‘I think growing up in a Hollywood home, there’s really no structure because you have this thing going, and you’ve got private planes,’ Flavin said. ‘And you’ve got all these giant homes with chefs and secretaries and assistants and, you know, housekeepers and nannies.
‘There’s just too much of everything,’ she continued. ‘It gets really confusing for a little person.’
Despite her concerns, Flavin seemed to suggest that someone’s gender identity wasn’t a big deal once they were an adult.
‘And it’s OK what you decide to be as an adult,’ she said. ‘But raise them just with good common sense.
‘I mean, my daughters were tomboys. They preferred to wear pants than dresses, you know. And they loved sports,’ Flavin added. ‘But I never said, “Oh, you’re a boy now.” I just said, “You love to play sports, you love to hang out with boys, that’s awesome.”‘
Hollywood stars including Robert De Niro, Cher, Jamie Lee Curtis and Annette Bening have notably expressed support for their transgender children in recent years.
However, there isn’t any data suggesting that the children of Hollywood stars or industry figures are more likely to be transgender.

The perception may exist due to the higher visibility of Hollywood stars.
Flavin has been more muted about her political allegiances than her husband, who has publicly supported multiple Republican candidates over the years, including Trump in the lead-up to his second term.
However, Stallone, 79, has also donated to multiple Democratic politicians, including former President Joe Biden.

Stallone also welcomed two older children with his first wife, actress Sasha Czack: sons Sage, who was born in 1976, and 44-year-old Seargeoh.
Sage died in 2012 as the result of heart disease, while Seargeoh, who has autism, has mostly avoided the spotlight compared to his younger siblings.
Stallone’s fans were shocked in August 2022 when Flavin filed to divorce him after 25 years of marriage.
However, the two had reunited just a month later, and Stallone — who admitted to having cheated on Flavin before they were married with the supermodel Janice Dickinson — later said that a ‘reawakening’ led him to do everything possible to try to save his marriage.
‘There was a reawakening of what was more valuable than anything, which is my love for my family,’ Stallone, 79, told The Sunday Times in 2022. ‘It takes precedence over my work and that was a hard lesson to learn.’
