Former NHL player Jimmy Hayes has died at the age of 31, according to Boston College, where he played college hockey.
The cause of death was not immediately known.
A second-round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008, Hayes, a right winger, had 109 points in 334 games in seven seasons with the Blackhawks, Panthers, Bruins and Devils.

The Boston, Mass. native last played professionally in the 2018-19 season with the minor league affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Hayes’ younger brother, Kevin, currently plays for the Flyers.
Hayes is survived by his wife Kristen and two young boys, according to ESPN’s John Buccigross.
