North Carolina football coach Bill Belichick’s 24-year-old girlfriend Jordon Hudson is being blamed for a top wrestler’s enrolment at another school.

In a conversation with Hurrdat Sports, Mark Manning, the wrestling coach for Nebraska, suggested that Cornhuskers recruit A.J. Ferrari’s decision to join UNC was somehow affected by Hudson. 

The details of the accusation are still unclear but seem to relate to a sexual battery charge Ferrari faced in August of 2022, which was eventually dismissed in October of 2023. Ferrari has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and his attorney, Derek Chance, has previously asserted that the charges were unfounded, as noted by the Daily Tar Heel. 

‘Rob Koll… the North Carolina coach, whom I’ve known for 35 years and consider a great friend, reached out when they refused A.J. admission to North Carolina,’ Manning shared with Hurrdat Sports. ‘A.J. was already there doing some training, and they denied his admission for various reasons. Bill Belichick’s girlfriend had some role in that decision.’

Manning then suggested the program was trying to avoid negative publicity after recent allegations in Chapel Hill.

In June, an unidentified female student told DailyTarHeel.com she planned to file a Title IX lawsuit against the school for allegedly mishandling her claim that she was nonconsensually filmed by a basketball player during a sexual encounter. UNC media relations declined comment to DailyTarHeel.com, citing federal privacy laws.

‘[I’m] very serious,’ Manning continued. ‘[Hudson was] one of the elements along with the men’s basketball player that had [an alleged] sexual assault the week before, and just a lot of drama, I think, for that chancellor.’

A.J. Ferrari reportedly considered transferring to UNC before settling on Nebraska 

Nebraska wrestling coach Mark Manning made the claim to Hurrdat Sports in late June 

According to Manning, Koll then reached out to suggest Nebraska look at Ferrari.

‘Rob was super disappointed,’ Manning said. ‘He spent a lot of time getting A.J. there, but they weren’t going to let him into school. So he called me up and said, “Hey, Mark, you’ve got a great team and you should get A.J. Ferrari.”

‘And I would have never thought about that… He convinced me and then off we went.’

North Carolina athletic department spokespeople did not respond to Daily Mail’s request for comment. 

Ferrari won an NCAA title at 197 pounds with Oklahoma State in 2021. Then, after the sexual battery allegations were dropped, he transferred to Cal State Bakersfield in 2024.

The Dallas native is coming off a 21-1 season in which he finished third at 197 pounds.

‘Jordon has zero involvement in the UNC football program,’ Belichick claimed in the email 

In June, emails obtained by WRAL detailed the fallout from the CBS interview. They show that disgruntled fans felt the relationship was turning the school into a ‘laughing stock’. In the emails, however, Belichick defended Hudson and their romance.

‘Jordon and I have both a personal & professional relationship,’ Belichick wrote to Beth Keith, a senior associate vice chancellor in the Office of University Communications.

‘This is not a secret… Jordon assists me with my personal media, which is why I asked UNC to forward media requests (E.G. CBS 60 Minutes) to her.

‘Jordon has zero involvement in the UNC football program, beyond the degree that my personal media intersects with it.’

He also explained why his young girlfriend was at the interview, which was organized to promote his new book: ‘The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football.’

‘Jordon was present at the CBS interview because David Kass, the Simon & Schuster publicist, was not there,’ Belichick claimed.

‘I included Jordon in the book acknowledgments because she was a creative contributor to the book, including having the idea for formatting the 4 special pages in the book.’

According to WRAL News, however, Hudson intended to sit in on the April 21 interview regardless of whether Kass was there.
