Iran war spills into Iraq as US jet crashes and French soldier dies in drone attack
The ongoing conflict with Iran has extended its reach into Iraq, following the crash of a U.S. jet after what is believed to be a mid-air collision. Meanwhile, a French military base has been engulfed in flames, resulting in the death of one soldier due to a drone strike.
Efforts are currently underway to locate a U.S. refueling aircraft and its crew, which is comprised of at least three individuals.
As this confrontation enters its 13th day, the U.S. military revealed that one of its aircraft, participating in operations against Iran, crashed in western Iraq. Reports indicate no signs of either hostile or friendly fire involved in the incident.
In Erbil, Iraq, a significant fire erupted at a French air base following a drone attack.
A helicopter reportedly sustained a hit, and at least six French soldiers were injured. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the unfortunate death of one soldier early this morning.
Macron stated, “Their presence in Iraq is strictly within the framework of combating terrorism. The war in Iran does not justify such attacks. The French soldiers in Iraq are not involved in warfare; they serve solely as military advisors, legally stationed there.”
