CA Republican Assembly Leader's Two-State Solution Is a Gimmick We Don’t Need

California Republicans require genuine leadership that advocates for every voter, not grandiose displays. However, Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher opted for a dramatic but ineffective response to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Election Rigging Act by suggesting that California be divided into two states along inland and coastal county lines.

As the leader of the Assembly, his responsibility lies in finding tangible solutions, not engaging in theatrical endeavors reminiscent of Newsom. Gallagher portrays his “Two-State Solution” as an issue of representation rights, borrowing the biblical phrase “Let my people go.”

Dramatic? Yes. Effective? Absolutely not.

California isn’t comparable to Egypt, nor are the Democrats like a Pharaoh. Partitioning the state will not address issues such as struggling families, growing crime rates, or widespread homelessness. What is needed is genuine leadership.

While it’s true that the policies passed in Sacramento often sideline inland counties, and Gallagher’s proposal highlights this disparity, dividing the state isn’t real leadership; it’s merely a headline-grabbing tactic akin to a political self-promotion.
