Kevin Spacey recently found himself addressing rumors about his living situation after comments he made sparked speculation about his housing status. The 66-year-old actor took to Instagram on Sunday to clarify remarks he previously made regarding his current lifestyle of staying in Airbnbs and hotels, which led some to believe he might be homeless.

In the video, Spacey expressed his surprise and gratitude, stating, “Thousands of people reached out over the past few days, offering me a place to stay or simply asking if I’m okay.” He continued, emphasizing his appreciation for the concern shown by fans and followers, “I am truly touched by your generosity.”

However, Spacey was quick to dispel any misconceptions. “I feel it would be disingenuous to allow you to believe I am indeed homeless in the colloquial sense,” he clarified. He explained that his nomadic lifestyle is a result of his work, “I said I was basically living in hotels and Airbnbs and going where the work is, just as I did when I first started out in this business.”

Spacey highlighted that his extensive travel is linked to his nearly nonstop work schedule this year, saying, “For that, I have so much to be grateful for.” He also took a moment to acknowledge the harsh realities faced by many, noting, “There are many people, as we all know, who are indeed actually living on the streets or in their cars or are in terrible financial situations, and my heart goes out to them.”

The speculation came after Spacey told The Telegraph that he lost his house and is now ‘living in Airbnbs and hotels’.

He told the publication: ‘The costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.

‘You get through it. In weird ways, I feel I’m back to where I first started, which is I just went where the work was. Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.

‘I’m living in hotels, I’m living in Airbnbs, I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.’

Asked what his financial situation is he replied: ‘Not great’, but added that in terms of bankruptcy, ‘it never got to that point’.

These last few years have seen Spacey embroiled in controversy.

Just two years ago, the actor was cleared of sexual assault allegations against four men during a UK trial in 2023.

He has since struggled to get work and has passionately spoken out about his ‘cancellation’ in Hollywood.

At the time of the allegations he was living in Baltimore, Maryland, where he had been based for 12 years.

Since 2017, more than 30 men accused the two-time Oscar-winning actor of sexual assault or inappropriate behaviour, which led to Netflix axing his role on House of Cards. He denied all allegations.

In July 2023, the American Beauty star was found not guilty of assaulting four men after a four-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, in one of the UK’s most high-profile #MeToo trials.

He has since been preparing to sing in a big band at a Cyprus resort in an ambitious bid to claw back his showbusiness career.

Earlier this month the disgraced Hollywood outcast performed for one night at the Parklane Luxury Collection Resort in Limassol, Cyprus.

Tickets for his ‘Songs & Stories’ performance were priced from £220, with a £1,100 VIP package including a 30-minute meet-and-greet photo opportunity, bottle of champagne and fruit platter, according to The Sun.

The Oscar-winner was backed by a jazz band and told tales from his showbusiness career in between performing songs.

Organisers said ahead of the event: ‘With the elegance of Sinatra, the wit of Dean Martin, and a career that spans decades of unforgettable performances, Spacey brings a voice and presence that’s simply unmatched.

‘This is not just a concert. It’s not just an evening of stories.

‘It’s the return of an entertainer in the grandest sense of the word—for one night only in Limassol’s most prestigious venue.’

The 90-minute event took place on November 15 with guests being told to wear ‘cocktail attire’.

Spacey previously portrayed crooner Bobby Darin in 2004 biopic Beyond The Sea, and sang on stage at Madison Square Garden with Billy Joel.
